Summary

The Food Safety Manager position requires a dedicated, hands-on professional who prioritizes quality, safety, environmental compliance with operational efficiency, and a strong commitment to continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will be adept at setting and achieving goals, based upon risk analysis, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety are consistently met.

Responsibilities

  • Design, create, and implement quality, safety, and environmental policies and procedures in compliance with ABARTA Coca-Cola Beverages, The Coca-Cola Company's North American Operating Unit, local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations and strict adherence to all the requirements of the Quality Management System as outlined in the following global initiatives: FSSC 22000, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
  • Ensure that all quality, safety, environmental audits, i.e., NAOU, GAO, FDA, USDA, OSHA, etc. are passed without any critical/major nonconformances.
  • Develop and maintain stringent food safety quality control measures to meet or exceed industry standards.
  • Lead initiatives and/or utilize best practices from other partner Bottlers for continuous improvement in production and warehouse processes.
  • Implement risk-based compliance testing of existing procedures and controls to identify, detect, and correct noncompliance.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency gains, waste reduction, and cost savings, and implement effective solutions.
  • Identify and create, with input from the maintenance team, a robust preventative maintenance program based upon OEM guidelines.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs to measure performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure that the Master Cleaning Schedule is adhered to, following the prescribed routines, and that GMP's are maintained throughout the entire facility for the internal audit score to always exceed the minimum acceptable level.
  • Evaluate and implement changes to compliance processes due to new or amended regulations, equipment additions, personnel changes, etc. (change management).
  • Create and deliver communication and training initiatives that inform associates and leaders about compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with department managers and cross-functional teams to determine status of assigned projects that could impact Production/Warehouse operations and ensure that all corrective actions are completed on time.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma/GED Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field preferred (Business, Operations Management, Food Science, etc.)

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years of related experience and/or training or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to draft reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of auditors, managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to understand basic high school chemistry as it applies to quality testing of manufactured beverages.
