This position reports to the General Manager - Flavour Manufacturing Wexford

Job Objective

Flavour Manufacturing Wexford is currently seeking to recruit a permanent Director, Engineering for its manufacturing and innovation facility based in Wexford Town.

This Wexford facility is part of The Coca-Cola Business System - the world's largest beverage company, refreshing consumers with some of the world's best loved brands. The Director, Engineering is a key member of the Flavour Manufacturing Wexford Leadership Team and is responsible for building and supporting the Flavour Manufacturing Culture of continuous process improvement and efficiency. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate clear, effective leadership and manage a high performing Engineering team while supporting the overall strategic planning and day to day management of the facility.

Key Responsibilities

Main Tasks (due to the importance of associate flexibility, associates may be required to carry out other duties in addition to these functions)

In addition to supporting overall strategic planning and day to day management of the operation, the Engineering Director has specific responsibility for the following areas:

  • Plant, Facilities and Infrastructure Maintenance
  • Process and Operations Support
  • Facility and Utilities Operations including clean utilities
  • Management of Site Calibration Program
  • Management of all Capital Project and associated work systems, design review, change control and Project Management. Sustainability Improvement and R&D are key components of the site's multiyear strategic plan.
  • Manage End of Life of Equipment & Software (Plant in Operation since 2010) to ensure plant continues to operate reliably and evolves to maintain and improve standards.
  • Specific responsibility for the Site Master Plan, a 5-year strategic plan for the assets and systems of the plant.
  • Budget accountability for maintenance, facilities and capital
  • Manage Procurement and Security of Supply of key externally sourced utilities including Natural Gas, Water & Electricity.
  • Maintenance Planning and Scheduling incorporating best practice in areas such a preventative maintenance, condition monitoring. Utilising SAP transition to paperless system for PMs and Cals will be early objective.
  • Management of Spare Parts incorporating Engineering Stores, Inventory Management, Purchasing and Receiving to ensure critical spares are available as required while managing inventory levels.
  • Engineering Workshop Management.
  • Process Control and Automation asset management, maintenance and projects
  • FMW compliance and best practice in the EHS areas.
  • Engineering compliance in areas such as CE, ATEX, Insurance Inspections
  • Ensuring appropriate design standards are maintained to comply with TCCC and regulatory requirements
  • Managing and maintaining plant engineering documentation ensuring that information is current and that IP protection measures are in place for sensitive materials
  • Manage high performance team and ensure CPD is maintained across the disciplines including knowledge sharing to improve capability of team to support evolving site requirements. Ongoing development of future talent through the apprenticeship and student programmes.

Additionally, the Director, Engineering has the overall responsibility for the following areas:

  • Supporting process innovation and design for new processes or equipment introductions to match new product requirements. This will include working with other multinational companies and vendors on new technologies and automation developments to keep the plant up to date. Shaping early project concept thought and inputting provisional data to feasibility studies on corporate TCCC initiatives.

Skills and Experience required

  • Degree in Mechanical / Chemical Engineering or other related field.
  • At least 10 years' experience in a high tech, large volume, manufacturing environment, typically beverages, pharmaceuticals, food or healthcare.
  • At least 3 years in a senior management position either as head of an Engineering Function or leading a specific component of the engineering function
  • Management of multi-disciplinary technical / engineering teams.
  • Management significant Capital Projects (specification, design, installation, commissioning, cost control, purchasing, contract, planning & scheduling, risk analysis & avoidance etc).
  • Be fully familiar with all regulatory and Best Practice with respect to Construction, Design & Management, Atex Regulations, HASWA, Pressure Regulations, Permit Procedures, Building Regulations, HAZOP, COSHHE, COMAH, Sevesso, Electrical Regulations, etc.
  • Good knowledge of Process Control and Automation of PLC, Ethernet, Device Net, Control Net and related equipment.
  • Experience with operation of computerised maintenance management systems (SAP used at FMW)
  • Management experience across a multi-functional and global organization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including influencing, listening, teamwork and building value-based relationships.
  • Excellent planning, analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills, with ability to manage and prioritise multiple conflicting demands.
