Job Summary

The Train Reporting Representative (TRR) is responsible for working to provide the accurate and timely reporting of train and railcar movements. The incumbent ensures that CN meets the needs of customers by providing essential data that allows both customers and internal stakeholders to make informed decisions about how to manage their railcar inventory. Furthermore, the role is accountable for identifying reporting violations and escalating them so that appropriate steps can be taken to find long-term resolutions. The role is the first line of communication with the Operational counterparts and is accountable to protect and ensure appropriate communication regarding our customer's service experience. Moreover, the role is required to interact closely and effectively with fellow members of the Service Delivery team and other internal CN stakeholders and work to develop productive relationships with them.

Major Responsibilities

• Use a variety of sophisticated computer systems to provide accurate and timely reporting of train or railcar movements
• Provide work orders and movement instructions for train crews and other Operational personnel and prepare information for other ancillary tasks
• Work with Service Delivery to protect service, as required
• Communicate with internal parties regarding reporting issues, service exceptions and special requests
• Update various logs, forms or systems as required
• Other duties and tasks as assigned

Working Conditions

• The role has standard working conditions in an office environment. Schedules will require shift work: day shift, afternoon shift, night shift, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays on rotation
• The role is required to work on an on-call schedule at times where shift assignments are based on seniority
• Teamwork oriented with an emphasis on empowering TRRs to be proactive and forward thinking, display ownership of tasks and tenacity when working towards issue resolution
• Fast paced and demanding with many time constraints, simultaneous activities, and high accountability to internal stakeholders
• Periods of prolonged sitting and standing at a desk, typing, and looking at multiple computer monitors
• Some physical exertion may be required

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a professional or customer-orientated environment
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Excellent verbal communication, reading comprehension, and writing skills in English (and French)
• Strong typing skills and accuracy including previous experience working with Microsoft Office tools or other related software
• Strong knowledge of navigating through operating systems, email, and internet proficiency
• Highly organized and proactive with a strong sense of urgency
• Display ethical behavior and strict adherence to courtesy, honesty, and responsibility
• Proven ability to analyze data, identify trends and effectively communicate findings to increase reporting accuracy, timeliness, and other procedural efficiencies
• Good working knowledge of North American geography
Any experience/education/skills/knowledge for these above would be considered as an asset

Training

Once onboarded, the new TRR hires complete classroom training with leaders covering CN's rules, policies, procedures and safety measures. TRRs are provided with in-depth training on our tools and systems to be successful in their role. This is followed by a 6-week on-the-job practical training. During your first 3-months, you will have rotating 1:1 mentorship and training with the team to provide regular coaching, guidance, and support.
