Job Summary

The Project Officer is responsible for designing and developing solutions that leverage technologies such as Microsoft Access, Structured Query Language (SQL), Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), and Robotics Process Automation (RPA) to quickly generate both financial returns and productivity gains for Accounting in an agile manner. The role requires specialized technical expertise and ability to learn new and advanced technologies to deliver and support innovative solutions in order to meet internal objectives.

Main Responsibilities

Agile Development Projects

• Analyze current business challenges, identify and assess the best technology solutions to address the challenges and drive business value
• Design and develop new solutions or enhance existing ones by using Microsoft Access, SQL, and RPA
• Coordinate with business users to ensure solutions improve processes, data integrity, and overall controls while successfully meeting business needs
• Perform quality assurance and user acceptance by testing new, existing and enhanced systems

Accounting Systems Support

• Coordinate and perform user support for new, existing and modified systems while minimizing system down time
• Work with business partners and I&T to investigate, document, and resolve system issues
• Ensure that problems are logged, communicated to solution owners and prioritized by considering business partner constraints and business process criticality
• Identify recurring problems, propose corrective solutions, and ensure their migration to production environments
• Coordinate with I&T and assist in system and platform technical migration while ensuring minimal business disruption

Reporting and Analytics

• Develop reporting solutions to monitor various business streams (e.g. monthly billing amounts, revenue recapture, billing amount by stream, Account Payables (AP) data audits) aimed to provide visibility to senior leadership
• Integrate large data sets from numerous data sources and draw insights required to build complex analytics models
• Perform data analytics, document business users' requirements, write functional and technical specifications
• Design conceptual and logical data models complying with corporate business intelligence standards
• Implement databases, data collection systems, or data analytics in order to optimize integrity and efficiency

Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a normal workweek from Monday to Friday.

Requirements

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a business or technology optimization role
o Experience in end-to-end development of complex Microsoft Access solutions

Education/Certification/Designation

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Computer Science

• Fluently bilingual both written and verbal (English, French)

Technical Skills/Knowledge

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)
• Knowledge of Business Objects, Systems, Applications and Procedures (SAP) Business Warehouse, Power BI, Risk Management System (RMS), Service Reliability System (SRS), Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), eBill, and GetPaid
• Knowledge of SQL, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and VBA
