Job Summary
The Supervisor, Water Control and Building Maintenance - Northern Quebec is responsible for handling activities in the assigned territory, supervising beaver control teams, water control, culvert inspection and maintenance. The role handles the building maintenance teams for the Northern Quebec territory.

Main Responsibilities
• Supervise beaver activity control teams
• Supervise maintenance crews for buildings and fixed installations
• Obtain necessary government permits to proceed with work in administrative regions
• Lead culvert inspection and maintenance activities
• Coordinate and plan construction and renovation work on buildings and fixed installations in the territory
• Work closely with the Comité Santé Sécurité (CSS) on building-related problems
• Perform helicopter inspections and enter data into the GEMS computer system
• Coordinate, plan and monitor work according to priorities based on reports generated by the GEMS computer system or as requested by Track Supervisors or their Assistants
• Develop a production schedule and ensure its application and handle priorities
• Coordinate, establish and implement safe work methods to ensure safe, quality production
• Lead staff members with clear guidelines and objectives, while providing coaching and guidance through regular performance monitoring
• Apply the collective agreement and company policies, conducting investigations, recommending corrective measures and handling grievances
• Ensure compliance with Transport Canada regulations
• Handle budgets and workforce productivity in accordance with CN's policies and five core principles
• Participate in activities related to service interruptions, while working with Transport and Mechanical to resolve causes and preventative measures

Working Conditions
The role works in a combination of office (30%) and outdoor environments (70%), in a variety of weather conditions, on an irregular schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays. The incumbent may be relocated as required. The position requires travel frequent travel (75%), sometimes without notice within Quebec. Due to the nature of the position, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and stress. The incumbent must be able to react to unforeseen or urgent situations, and be able to lift loads of up to 70 lbs.
Requirements
Experience
Supervision in Union Environments
Minimum 2 years of experience supervising, planning, coordinating, scheduling, budgeting and auditing production activities in a unionized environment
o Experience in security compliance
o Experience in labor relations (e.g., interpreting collective agreements, handling grievances, negotiating with union representatives, disciplinary measures)
o Experience as a Track Supervisor and Construction Program Supervisor
o Experience in Topography including the use of maps, Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and a compass
o Relevant work experience in similar conditions or in an environment subject to operating or safety regulations
Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset
Education/Certification/Designation
• High School Diploma or General Educational Development
• Valid Driver's License
• Railway inspection and operations courses and training
• Trapping, Hunting and Firearms License

Technical Skills/Knowledge
• Working knowledge of the interpretation and application of CN Engineering Track Standards, technical drawings and recommended methods
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Fluently bilingual, both written and verbal (English, French)
• Knowledge of GEMS Beaver business database system, Systems Applications, and Products (SAP) applications (e.g., production planning, payroll, time recording modules)
• Ability to conduct post-accident investigations
