Job Summary

The Manager, Port is responsible for the logistical coordination of rail and vessel discharge operations at CN for West Ports. The role assists the Senior Manager working with stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure long-term strategies are met safely and efficiently.

Main Responsibilities

Car Supply Management

• Manage the day-to-day railcar requirements of the West Ports
• Host or attend daily planning calls with internal and external stakeholders
• Coordinate with key stakeholders to identify and highlight issues that arise, problem solving, troubleshooting, engaging appropriate parties and taking appropriate action

Planning and Communication

• Plan destination loading schedules with the Intermodal (IM) networks, communicate and plan with the Port teams
• Communicate daily plans, exceptions, and requirements internally and externally
• Follow up with exception cars and plans for correction

Relationship Management

• Interact daily with Port Operators, partner railroads, and steamship line customer service teams
• Assist internal and external stakeholders by working with port partners to prioritize cargo or provide details on options available
• Engage with Marine Terminal Operators regularly to nurture relationships and expand CN's footprint across all gateways
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to communicate situation reports
• Meet with local customers to cultivate relationships and enhance profitable growth
• Collaborate closely with CN's Sales and Marketing team to meet customer requirements and align with CN's strategic objectives
• Attend meetings, dinners, and events with stakeholders

Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular work week from Monday to Friday. The role requires minimal travel (up to 10%) within Canada.

Requirements

Experience

Operations
• Minimum 5 years of experience in an operations environment
o Commercial experience

Education/Certification/Designation

• College Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Analytics, Business Administration or Marketing

• Understanding of logistic networks
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel)
• Knowledge of Marine Operations or Rail Operations

• Knowledge of the Service Reliability Systems (SRS)
Any knowledge for any of the above would be considered as an asset
