Job Summary
The Financial Partner is responsible for providing financial oversight for the Network Operations - Mechanical Business Unit (BU). This position provides financial insights to build an improved business model, proactively driving value through informed and insightful decision-making, fostering a culture of cost consciousness, control, simplification, and continuous improvement.

Main Responsibilities
Finance

  • Budget, forecast and analyze capital and operating expenses
  • Prepare year-end outlook (YEO) based on actual results and spending trends, and drive cost improvements with support from senior financial partners
  • Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports on expenditures and key performance metrics, including various analysis as required
  • Monitor, analyze and explain monthly operating results against budget and forecast
  • Preparation and distribution of financial reports to BU, taxation and Accounting Property
  • Preparation of financial outlooks and financial forecasts
  • Manage changes/transfers within the Operating and Capital budgets
  • Ensure effective controls are in place for SOX and GAAP compliancy
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Participate in contract renewals
  • Manage accrued liabilities in compliance with corporate accounting rules
  • Prepare business cases, benefits identification and quantification and ROI analysis
  • Proactively review and implement new processes triggered by new accounting pronouncements and new systems

Working Conditions
The role has standard working conditions with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday and will currently be eligible to participate in our flexible work from home policy. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and manage stress.
Requirements
Experience

  • Finance
  • Financial Planning experience
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, preparing business cases
  • Accounting experience in journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparing financial reports
  • Experience working in a CN business unit

Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset
Education/Certification/Designation

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Business
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or working towards
  • Charted Professional Accountant (CPA) or working towards

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Advanced knowledge of Systems, Applications and Products (SAP), Essbase, business objects
