Job Summary
The Facility Management Supervisor must organize, monitor and supervise facility management operations and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to facility management for their sub region (province/territory/LRC). The person ensures that the activities are performed safely, within budgets and in strict compliance with building regulatory and maintenance standards consistent with expectations of the business.

Main Responsibilities
Human Resources
- Plan daily facility management activities related to buildings, utilities, yard equipment and bridges, based on priorities (i.e., emergencies, regular scheduled maintenance, etc.)
- Supervise work performed by external contractors and unionized staff to meet requirements
- Enforce labour agreements including requests for overtime, scheduling, grievances, investigations, discipline, etc.
- Ensure that CN Safety Standards are met and followed by internal and external maintenance employees
- Perform daily safety briefing
- Report Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) injuries and workplace accidents
Project Coordination
- Respond to requests for maintenance work from CN employees located in their respective regions, evaluate requests and determine the most effective ways to resolve the issues
- Interact with senior management personnel in Operations (GM, Superintendent, etc.) relating to repair and maintenance requests
- Ensure scheduled preventative maintenance is performed on critical infrastructure noting work completion in CN database
- Complete a prioritized assessment of buildings on your territory and schedule for repair or replacement as required to submit to Manager for approval
- Outsource request for proposal (RFP) or multiple bids for facility management within delegation of authority
Budgets
- Responsible for cost centre budgets including prioritizing discretionary spending
Working Conditions
The role is based in an office environment with travel (25%) required during the year. Due to the nature of the position, the availability of 24/7 is required to deal with emergency issues that arise. The incumbent must handle an elevated amount of pressure and stress to meet tight deadlines for emergencies.
Requirements
Experience
Facility Supervisor
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a facility supervisory within a unionized environment
Education/Certification/Designation
- Trade Certification or equivalence
- Valid Drivers License
