Job Summary

The Director, Enterprise Risk Management is responsible for leading the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) initiative across CN globally, which provides insights to the management on risks and their potential impacts on the company's activities and strategy. The role ensures that the risk management framework aligns with the strategic objectives and enhances the resiliency of the business model over time.

Main Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the company's ERM framework in alignment with overall business objectives
• Collaborate with function leaders and executives for risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring
• Influence stakeholders to include ERM as a key consideration in growth strategies of the company to align Risk, Strategy and Performance
• Lead comprehensive risk assessments and analysis to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities across all areas of the organization
• Utilize qualitative and quantitative methods to work with the teams to evaluate the impact and likelihood of risks
• Design effective risk mitigation strategies, including the development of action plans with the business units
• Design, prepare and present risk reports and dashboards to senior management and the Board of Directors
• Communicate risk-related information clearly and effectively to stakeholders at all levels
• Collaborate with departments to ensure risk management practices are integrated in their operational processes and decision-making
• Assist in providing support, advice, and direction to the Board of Directors and to the leadership team
• Influence key internal stakeholders to prioritize risk mitigation plans to create value and to enhance the resiliency of CN's business model
• Develop communication tools to raise awareness and understanding of risk management principles and practices among employees
• Foster a risk-aware culture throughout the organization
• Connect with key internal and external stakeholders to monitor the evolution of the risk environment, including all trends related to emerging risks
• Ensure best-in-class practices are monitored and implemented

Requirements

Experience

Risk Management
• Between 10 to 15 years of risk management or related experience
o Proven experience in risk management, with a track record of successful risk management implementation in a complex organization
o Strong understanding of risk management frameworks, methodologies, and best practices
o In-dept experience in embedding ERM in organizational culture and linking it to financial performance
o Experience in initiating and leading cross functional internal and external partnerships and collaborations
o Experience in the rail industry or transportation sector
Any experience for these above would be considered an asset

Education/Certification/Designation

• Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
• Master's Degree or professional certification (e.g., MBA or Certified Risk Manager (CRM))
Any education for these above would be considered an asset
