Agency Description

The Philadelphia Water Department is a municipal department of approximately 2500 employees working in all facets to provide water/wastewater treatment services to the City of Philadelphia and the surrounding counties.

Philadelphia Water Department (PWD) is a municipal department with approximately 2500 employees which provides water and wastewater treatment and services for the City of Philadelphia and some surrounding counties. Northeast Water Pollution Control Plant is PWD's largest wastewater treatment plant. It treats an average of 210 million gallons of wastewater daily, with peak flow of approximately 550 million gallons. There are primary and secondary treatments. There is also an on-site 5.6 MW cogeneration facility.

Job Description

Assist the Engineer(s) in field work and expedite routine office tasks. The field work includes checking process equipment (pumps, valves, meters, bar screens, tank levels, flow rates, etc) integral to plant operations. Collecting data from in-situ meters at various points throughout the plant. Assist the engineer in coordinating procedures for shutdowns related to maintenance, construction or other issues. Office work includes filing of daily ,weekly, and monthly data reports. Prepare and enter plant operations data for plant database, assist plant engineer in the collection of data and performing small research studies for plant processes, assist in preparing analytical and statistical reports evaluating data, assist in troubleshooting process issues, and assist in performing any other jobs as assigned by the plant engineer.

Essential Functions

Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Applicants are required to meet the following minimum requirements:

- Must be enrolled as a full-time student

-  Valid driver’s license preferred, though a personal vehicle is not required.

Qualifications

Majors :  Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering, chemical Engineering,  Environmental Science
