Reaching these goals requires city agencies to work together with residents, businesses, developers, advocates, funders, and each other. Planning and Development has a team of agencies that do just that. Our agencies include:

Job Description
Position Summary
Interns will gain exposure to a broad range of planning tasks and responsibilities, including general work and specific projects. P+A Team Interns also conduct independent, staff-guided research that results in a series of work products that can serve as portfolio pieces in future job applications while advancing long term planning goals of PCPC.
Essential Functions
The Policy and Analysis team seeks an intern to advance medium and long-term projects and ideas that are core to ongoing work and comprehensive plan priorities through research and creative problem-solving.
The core goals of P+A internships include:
• Exposure to municipal government operations and PCPC priority areas
• Interaction with city staff across DPD, PDPH and partner agencies
• Advance medium- and long-term projects and ideas
Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Applicants should have demonstrable experience in conducting independent research and be capable of communicating clearly through both conversation and writing. Applicant should indicate knowledge of current and historical planning practices in Philadelphia and the ability to evaluate them in a professional manner.
Qualifications
Applicants shall be currently enrolled in an academic program in City Planning or a related field and must be willing commute into Philadelphia preferred. The position is open to both undergraduates and graduates. Possible majors include Urban Planning, Urban Studies, Urban Affairs, Community Development, Public Health, Sociology, Public Administration, Government, Political Science, Architecture/Architecture Studies, or a related field.
