Agency Description

The First Judicial District of Pennsylvania (“FJD”) is the Philadelphia County Court System and is composed of two courts:  the Court of Common Pleas and the Municipal Court.  The mission of the FJD is to adjudicate cases and provide services to the community within our jurisdiction while ensuring fair, timely, and accessible justice to the people of Philadelphia.  The FJD is part of the Unified Judicial System reporting into the Pennsylvania Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

Job Description

Provides routine clerical support following established procedures.  Work is generally repetitive.

This is entry-level clerical work performed under the supervision of a clerical or administrative supervisor.  The work is routine in nature, easily learned, and once learned, can be performed without close supervision.  Employees in this class may be required to perform data-entry tasks as needed.

As with any entity within the First Judicial District, the Pretrial Services Department may be called upon to ensure the performance of essential duties or functions as deemed so by administrative and governing bodies, which may result in an individual being available to perform essential tasks during court closures and/or non-traditional hours.

Essential Functions

  • Greets individuals placed on pretrial supervision and checks them by utilizing designated applications and established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records both digitally and physically to be utilized for statistical purposes.
  • Maintains communication with the Sheriff's Warrant Unit when facilitating arrests to ensure public safety
  • Sorts and files papers and/or legal documents in a pre-established filing system.
  • Performs routine data entry functions to retrieve information from court computers.
  • Directs the public to appropriate departments based on simple inquiries.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Replenishes computer, printer, copier and fax machine paper.
  • Answers the telephone and greets the public.

  1. High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  2. Some experience in an office environment is preferred.
  3. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

Salary Range: $30,028 - $31,990
