Position Summary

The Procurement Pharmacist supports and oversees activities relating to procurement of pharmaceuticals to ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective services. The pharmacist ensures compliance with all licensing, regulatory requirements and safe medication standards related to all aspects of pharmaceutical purchasing including storage, inventory and quality management of supplies that will ensure that overall success of COH.

The procurement pharmacist will be responsible for managing the drug inventory to avoid stockouts and medication waste, tracks and addresses drug shortages and responsible for keeping abreast of pharmaceutical market changes.

The pharmacist will support the Pharmacy Business Manager in planning, coordinating, and overseeing the day to day purchasing of pharmaceuticals and medical Supplies for the Orange County campus. Will monitor purchases to meet regulatory and budgetary standards of COH pharmacy. Help to track all expenses and predict future budget estimations. Help review cost effectiveness of new technology, pharmacy services and review cost of new drug therapy and its institutional impact.

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Education:
  • Graduate of ACPE-accredited Pharmacy School or School with ACPE accreditation pending. Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements

Required Certification/Licensure:
  • Current California Pharmacist License.
  • BLS - American Heart Association or obtain within 9 months of hire date.

Preferred Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's Degree, Pharm D preferred

Preferred Experience:
  • Two years of experience as a Clinical Pharmacist; Purchasing/procurement experience preferred

Software:
  • Epic, preferred

  • Full-time, day shift
