A Signal Systems Technician I job is available with The City of Fort Worth Transporation and Public Works department. City of Fort Worth is looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual who wants to expand their technical knowledge and professional career by being involved in the implementation of state-of-the-art-technology in the area of traffic signal and ITS system. The City of Fort Worth is currently in the process of procuring and implementing new traffic signal controller hardware/software, new central traffic management system software, a citywide fiber optic network, PTZ cameras, and other related ITS devices.
The Signal Systems Technician I job responsibilities include:
- Subject to "on call" status twenty-four (24) hours a day; seven (7) days a week to respond to emergencies, work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends and holidays.
- Subject to emergency "call-back" when not "on-call" to respond to emergencies after hours and complete priority projects.
- Using tools and equipment associated with repair and maintenance of electrical/electronic systems and circuits.
- Safe practices used in electrical work and installing conductors/cables above and below ground.
- Operating equipment related to the performance of job duties; overhead and underground work.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED
- One year of experience in electrical construction or electrical maintenance construction.
- Possession of Class "B" Commercial Driver's License or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire date.
- Possession of or ability to obtain IMSA (International Municipal Signal Association) Traffic Signal Technician Level 1 certificate within 12 months of hire date.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Customer service experience.
- Computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, are preferred.
- Good communication, reading, and writing skills.
- Preference may be given for additional education, knowledge, experience and/or certifications associated with working on roadways and around traffic.
- Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
