PRODUCT GOVERNANCE LEADER

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

1LOD Product Governance is responsible for guiding/coordinating product and service approval consideration, launch, and monitoring as defined in CNB Product Governance standard and addendum. Primary purpose of the Product Governance Leader is to ensure policy is implemented and adhered to by Product Owners, product risk profiles are within risk tolerances, products and services are aligned with strategy, product assessments are appropriate to the risk. Implement and operate 1LOD Product Governance program across business platform.

Working within the Office of the President division, you will be part of the team that provides strategic support and guidance to City National's commercial lines of business with a strong focus on integrated and streamlined risk and compliance programs.

What you will do

  • Contribute to and execute on the vision, strategy and operating model for 1LOD Product Governance.
  • Maintain an accurate and complete inventory of bank products.
  • Direct the implementation of 1LOD product governance programs and practices to ensure an accurate view of CNB's Product Risk Profile and monitoring of product performance to commitments.
  • Work with relevant Line of Business Product Owners and 2nd LOD risk owners in establishing the enterprise product governance practice. Review and monitor product performance metrics and ensure in aggregate the bank does not exceed the Board approved risk appetite.
  • Chair Product and Strategic Initiatives Committee.
  • Identify trends and direct research into areas of perceived elevated or emerging operational risk.
  • Responsible for monitoring adherence to policies, standards, procedures and frameworks related to assigned Product Governance programs while ensuring alignment to RBC, regulatory and industry best practices.
  • Develop and maintain 1LOD Product Governance appropriate to CNB's size and complexity.
  • Train the 1LOD Business Unit Product Owners on changes in the Product Governance program, governance documents, or program requirements.
  • Manage platforms that are used for product assessment.
  • Champion behaviors that embed a strong risk management culture across 1LOD.
  • Represent the 1LOD Product Governance department on key governance committees across CNB and RBC.
  • Continuously improve and mature the Product Governance program, including potential horizontal expansion and alignment with RBC enterprise program.

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Risk Management
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing a team and/or leading complex projects

Skills and Knowledge

  • 5 years of experience in First Line Product Governance (preferred)
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to partner with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong ability to influence, motivate and effect change
  • Ability to transform overarching objectives into executable plan
  • Confidence to take on new ideas and challenge others
  • Strong knowledge of banking regulatory requirements and best practices related to risk management practices globally
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment actively managing a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Depth or breadth of risk management experience (1LOD or 2LOD)
  • Proficient in risk management methodologies
  • Skilled in building a network and maintaining key relationships

Compensation

Starting base salary: $141,830 - $263,408 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
