Overview

The Sr. Packaging Design Lead is responsible for leading the vision and design strategy for Chick-fil-A packaging from ideation to creation. The Design Lead is a strategic design thinker who leads ideation, development, design, and execution of all 2D packaging while influencing 3D packaging. The Design Lead will establish visual guidelines and ensure a consistent representation of the brand across all touch points.

The Design Lead manages multiple projects, processes and problems that are difficult or complex; analyzes problems and determines solutions and makes recommendations to senior decision makers. The Design Lead provides design leadership and consulting on initiatives while partnering with Marketing, external partners, and stakeholders across the business. Responsibilities

  • Lead creative vision and development of 2D packaging in partnership with the packaging team and various stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain packaging visual identity systems to drive brand consistency
  • Create clear and strategic design briefs to define objectives, design strategy, and deliverables
  • Optimize and apply systematic thinking across 150+ SKUs
  • Project, coordinate, and work cross-functionally with Marketing, Supply Chain, internal teams, agencies, vendors and additional counterparts
  • Understand the competitor landscape and staying up to date on "what's next" in design trends
  • Responsible for managing budgets, timelines, project planning, communications and details for multiple projects in various stages at once
  • Collaborate, consult and provide creative feedback for internal teams and external partners
  • Supervise the execution of design through prepress and printing
  • Design hands-on if needed and effectively communicate concepts to influence stakeholders on the creative vision
  • Manage and build partnerships with creative agencies and external partners

  • Highly collaborative with the design team and oversee designers on creative development and production
  • Ability to work independently under tight deadlines, while maintaining excellent communication with direct report
  • Ability to deliver innovative packaging solutions and out of the box thinking


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired
  • 4+ years of experience in creative industry required
  • Expertise in packaging design and developing large-scale packaging systems
  • Ability to communicate concepts in 2D and 3D execution
  • Deep knowledge of packaging manufacturing practices, techniques, prepress and printing
  • Ability to understand, specify and manage color standards and specifications
  • Strong project management skills with attention to detail
  • Portfolio demonstrating deep design experience and strong typography skills
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite and work management platforms


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, packaging design, or similar
  • 5+ year's of experience in creative industry strongly preferred
