The Chewy Vet Care Learning and Development team is seeking an experienced Learning Architect with top tier learning program strategy and planning skills. You will help re envision how learning programs (such as onboarding, continuous learning and career path development programs) in Chewy Vet Care can be radically different, more efficient, results driven and customer focused. You will own three core components of Learning Design: Analysis, Design, and Evaluation. Strong partnership, consultation and influence with subject matter experts, learning analytics, and Senior Instructional Designers to develop content solutions along with Training Delivery who will help you execute the learning strategy will be critical to success. You will also partner cross functionally with learning analytics, the Chewy Vet Care medical and operations teams, the PMO office and our product teams. This strategic role is perfect for someone who can ‘see the whole field’ and operate both at scale and depth. The strategies you produce will drive the Chewy Vet Care customer experience and apply to both new hires and tenured audiences. As a Learning Architect, you will help influence the creation and/or create and manage processes that help scale new learning programs and maintenance of existing program materials. The goal of all programs you develop will be to positively contribute to all key Chewy Vet Care metrics, key performance indicators (KPIs) and Chewy Vet Care Learner metrics.
You will have experience in conducting training program analysis and high-level design and development. Direct experience and understanding of detailed development and implementation across the full ADDIE lifecycle are also desired. The right candidate will have the ability to influence and drive results in a highly collaborative environment while performance consulting with key business leaders on their long-term business needs. As a Senior member of the L&D team, you will have the ability to communicate up, across, and out to teams who are not learning-centric, doing so crisply and clearly through email, white papers, and other mechanisms. It will be critical for the right candidate to speak to the business in a way that they can understand and rally behind.
Responsibilities:
- Build partnerships and influence Chewy Vet Care stakeholders across operations, medical, product management, the project management office and L&D to develop, refine and execute learning programs that positively impact the Chewy Vet Care Customer Experience, operational metrics and Learner metrics.
- Build and/or revise learning programs based on the above partnerships that answer for both an improved learner experience and long-term business goals.
- Demonstrate an ability to write strong, measurable and achievable learning objectives that tie learning deliverables to metrics.
- Evolve the Chewy Vet Care learning and development blended learning strategy while understanding the current state of Chewy Vet Care learning and development programs and operations.
- Demonstrate a mastery of adult learning theories and how to apply them to common business problems – anchoring on results.
- Develop and evangelize best practices in training, constantly updating your knowledge based on industry trends and insights.
- Be a thought leader in learning program design – seeking to develop “next best practice” learning programs.
- Effectively function as a senior business partner as part of a Chewy Vet Care L&D team, at your level and one level removed (associate director and manager).
Qualifications:
- An advanced degree or certification in Business, Talent Management, Performance Technology, Data Science, Instructional Design, Adult Learning, or Teaching plus 10+ years of on-the-job application.
- 3-5+ years in creating, managing and implementing onboarding (aka new hire training) along with tenured training program experiences at a program level.
- Documented experience in building learning strategies and the implementation of them.
- 3-5 years of experience leading a team or dotted line resources in instructional design. Doing this with vendors and outsourcing partners as well is a plus.
- Proven experience with Learning Program Design, Instructional Design and performance consulting in cross group environments and the ability to drive business metric improvements.
- Deep instructional design knowledge and the ability to convey complex ID theories to internal stakeholders in a way that they can consume, and support.
- Experience conducting in–depth learning and business analysis using various data sources, seeing themes in oceans of data.
- Ability to synthesize, summarize and share recommendations based on quantitative first and qualitative second data sets.
- The ability to connect learning programs to business results - based on the Philips ROI and/or Kirkpatrick evaluation models.
- Proven experience with designing, developing, and delivering blended learning strategies for full programs/multiple programs and lines of business that are interrelated.
- Experience coordinating and developing multiple programs at one time.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with peers, driving diverse workgroups to collaborative solutions while working with operations teams on overall New Hire and tenured team member performance and performance results of learning interventions.
- The ability to travel is a requirement. Travel could reach 10% or more if business needs arise.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to use Microsoft Office products in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project.
- Veterinary Care experience is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Proven top level learning program manager and instructional designer who can manage strategic programs at a curricula level.
- The ability to support strategic initiatives and blend them into short-, mid-, and long-term plans across Chewy Vet Care.
- The ability to turn adult learning theories into practical applications and debate openly yet commit fully to those that won’t prove results with data.
- A master of interpreting data to apply to any potential solutions, identify root causes and inform decision making vs. ‘gut’ feelings alone.
- Inspect and validate programs to achieve clear impacts to business results. The ability to simply quote adult learning theory is only part of the equation. Using those theories to solve difficult business problems is critical to this role's success.
- Expert in the application of Philips ROI evaluation model (and/or Kirkpatrick's) up to Level 3 at a minimum, demonstrable L5 ROI preferred.
- Exceptional program management skills across multiple strategic and tactical projects. You must be able to create the business justification to support programs.
- Clear understanding and ability to apply development ratio’s and % allocation as you design programs – setting up the instructional designers for success.
- The ability to influence without authority cross group.
- The ability to deal with ambiguity and rapidly changing priorities diplomatically in a young company is critical. The primary focus of this role is learning strategy for a customer service, contact environment.
- Experience in writing business documentation (i.e., Whitepapers) to distill complex strategy in detail – helping stakeholders understand strategic work and/or all components of critical learning programs. You must be able to “speak to the business” and not over-index on learning and development vernacular.
- Must be able to work well in a team and take on big challenges. How you accomplish your daily tasks is as important as the results you get in this highly collaborative environment.
