Chewy is hiring a Compounding Pharmacist Formulations Manager in Pittston, PA! 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead all aspects of compounded preparation formulations for Chewy's pharmacy, which will include research, bench testing, and analytical testing! The team will maintain complete and accurate documentation for all new formulations. You will partner directly with the Head Compounding Pharmacist (HCP) and other compounding leadership to facilitate the development of new formulations, while managing the formulations database and process changes. Your team will have a continuous improvement culture, and will build, modify, audit, and maintain formulations perpetually.

You will work alongside the HCP and PIC in communications with state boards of pharmacy, inspectors, and other third parties, as needed. Our Compounding Pharmacist Formulations Manager will perform, review, and approve formulations and quality investigations, while having extensive knowledge of principles, theories and laws, safety precautions, policies and procedures that pertain to compounding- specifically USP <795>, <800>, other USP general chapters, and best compounding practices.

What you'll do: 

  • Develop and maintain master formulation records through frequent audits to ensure compliance and continual improvement 
  • Assist compounding leadership in identifying and evaluating process changes or additional equipment to improve lab operations and formulations
  • Modify existing formulations with appropriate change control
  • Serve as a critical member of the continuous improvement program including reviewing and revising analytical testing guidelines, and modifying existing formulations
  • Willingness to complete external training, as required

What you'll need: 

  • Bachelors or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree, a current Pennsylvania license, and 3 to 5 years in a similar role
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Capability of working with small, delicate pieces of expensive machinery to complete appropriate dosage forms
  • Veterinary compounding experience and understanding of cGMP preferred

Physical requirements- Must be able to:

  • Lift at least 40 pounds, either with or without reasonable accommodation 
  • Stand for long periods of time, either with or without reasonable accommodation 
  • Work in a variety of positions and locations such as sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and walking; for prolonged periods of time
  • Wear required compounding safety equipment for long periods of time when required
  • Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
