This self-motivated Senior Site Reliability Engineer will be joining our elite team of SREs in IT Operations Center to provide, improve, and protect the software and systems behind all Chevron IT services - including management of availability, observability, scalability, latency, performance, efficiency, security, monitoring, capacity planning, troubleshooting, delivering faster, better, and cost-effective solutions.
 

SRE focuses on customer centricity and product innovation by continuous improvement from end-to-end; from designing, developing, testing & maintaining CI/CD Pipelines through operational support to build the next generation of IT applications on cloud native platforms.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Leverage broad full-stack knowledge and experience to effectively and efficiently help product line agile teams in troubleshooting and resolving system problems.

  • Improve product reliability through utilization of data analytics to proactively identify problem areas, provide tier 0/1 service architectural analysis to ensure appropriate design and safeguards are in place, performance consultation prior to production release.

  • Serve as lead technical resource during major incident management from triage, postmortem, retrospective action items, and track to closure.

  • Analyse IT reliability incidents to provide insights on improvement opportunities for removing toils through automation.

  • Leverage software engineering experience, CI/CD pipeline, ansible, scripting to proactively manage the hosting infrastructure, run ad-hoc commands and playbooks to automate tasks.

  • Align, collaborate, and build relationships with peers, company leadership, subject matter experts and users to improve knowledge of end-to-end DevOps/Site Reliability Engineering best practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years’ hands-on experience as an IT professional with Computer Science/ Management Information Systems (MIS) degree or related field equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years in Oil & Gas/Energy Industry or related experience as understanding of our business is expected.

  • Demonstrated experience in on-prem and cloud architecture, Azure cloud and Linux OS, performance monitoring & management, troubleshooting (application and database), change management, API integration, process automation.

  • Extensive experience with KQL, CI/CD pipeline with Ansible, PowerShell, and Shell scripting.

  • Hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure DevOps (ADO) and fully engaged with SAFe PI Planning, value stream mapping, scrum ceremonies.

  • T-shaped/full stack infrastructure & software engineering skills to deliver end-to-end solution via best practices and team collaboration.

  • Leverage knowledge and best practices of Site Reliability Engineering such as SLO, SLI, and SLA definitions, eliminating toil via automation, error budgets, emergency response (triage, postmortem, retrospective), demand forecast and cost-effective capacity planning to inspire others in supporting Chevron’s Agile/DevOps transformation.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance to achieve defined technical/business objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred training/certifications:  Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-104), Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204), DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400), Network (CCNA, JNCP, ACE), Security (PCCSA, CISSP), Linux/Unix Administration.
