Holds a key function in the Marine Lubricants team, and is intimately familiar with the operation of all lubricated equipment on board of ocean-going vessels, preferably based on first hand experience. Maintains close relationships with the major OEMs of Marine propulsion engines (Two-Stroke) and auxiliary engines (Four-Stroke). Manages execution and documentation of field tests on board of vessels to secure OEM approvals. Advises the Marine team about trends in engine design, operating conditions, and fuel type that could potentially impact the market for marine lubricants. Participates in lubricant development partnerships with additive suppliers and helps define requirements of future lubricants. Educates and trains Field Technical Specialists and Sales personnel. Provides the highest level of subject matter expertise to resolve complicated technical service requests for Marine and for PowerGen applications.

Chevron Belgium is accepting online applications for the position of Marine Field test engineer located in Belgium or alternative locations.
The Marine and Poweren Product & Technology Team, located in Belgium, is globally responsible for product development and product management of Chevron’s range of marine and power generation diesel and gas engine oils.
Key responsibilities are:
- Responsible for all aspects of marine and powergen engine oil field testing with new or existing lubricants, in large 2-stroke and/or medium speed engines,
- Coordinate field test activities, not only internally within Chevron, but also with external partners, such as maintenance companies and the engine OEM.
- Successful candidates are expected to perform in-the-field / on-board engine inspections to assess marine engine oil performance.
- Conduct technical support investigations, including assessment of oil analysis results, investigation of equipment parts and on-board inspections.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A degree in marine engineering or equivalent through proven experience. Ideal candidates have 5 or more years of experience as a first, second or chief engineer, preferably in international shipping.
- Proven experience in maritime and/or powergen operations, combined with technical expertise servicing large 2-stroke and/or medium speed engines, either as a marine engineer, a repair superintendent, a technical manager, a superintendent engineer at a shipping company, a technical manager or a superintendent engineer at a marine engine OEM, or other equivalent positions
- Customer focused, building effective customer relationships.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills. Highly organized, ability to complete a high volume of tasks and projects with little to no guidance and tight deadlines.
- A team player, communicative, and able to work in a diverse multicultural environment, whilst being able to work independently in a virtual team environment.
- Physical fitness to conduct engine inspections and part measurements of large 2-stroke and/or medium speed marine engines.
- Fluent in spoken and written English, able to write technical reports. Spoken and written knowledge of other languages is an asset (Spanish).
- Willingness to travel frequently and at short notice, provided adherence to Chevron and local COVID 19 (legal) restrictions is guaranteed.
- Familiar with latest IT software and hardware tools (Office 365 package (Excel), Hololens,…), and willingness to continuously stay up to date.
