The Virtual Compute Engineering Team is responsible for the design, engineering, implementation, and standardization of the firm's Data Center Distributed Virtualization Fabric. This group works closely with other technology verticals, automation, workflow, and operation teams to ensure virtual infrastructure is deployed and managed to current architecture standards and protocols.
The Virtual Infrastructure Systems Engineer plays a vital role in the evaluation, engineering, implementation, and management of our distributed hosting environment leveraging virtualization, automation and orchestration technologies. This position requires knowledge in all aspects of data center hosting with a primary focus on VMware virtualization. Networking knowledge and experience with an emphasis on VMware NSX is a plus. The ability to work closely with other technology verticals as well as application developers to ensure a robust scalable infrastructure is also required. The Virtual Infrastructure Engineer also supports various system administration teams in the migration of existing hosting environments to the service-oriented data center model. This position demands maintaining a high-level of expertise within the aligned technologies that comprise this infrastructure and will include all operational aspects including automation, new deployments, issue resolution and participation in on-call support.

What you have
Candidate should possess 8+ years' experience in an Enterprise Level Distributed Data Center Environment, with focus on the following:
- Vmware Virtualization
- vSphere v8 / NSXv4 / vSAN / Aria
- Automation / Orchestration / Ansible
- Cisco Network Administration (CCNA)
- Distributed Compute Infrastructure Design and Support
Additional areas of focus:
- Storage Design/Engineering
- Servers Infrastructure Design/Engineering and Network Data Center Design/Engineering
- Ability to set architectural and tactical direction based on business and strategic needs
- Clear understanding of server, network and storage principals and architecture
- Advance knowledge of OS internals with systems administration in Windows and/or Linux OS a plus
- Provide advanced troubleshooting of OS, storage and network components
- Understanding of / experience with Hyper Converged Infrastructure
- Experience in DevOps, with Pivotal Cloud Foundry a plus
- Powershell scripting experience
- Ansible automation experience
- Experience working with JIRA
- Experience in deploying and management of a large Data Center server, storage or network environment.
- Experience with Cisco enterprise class switches and routers including experience with EIGRP, BGP, OSPF,
- RIP routing protocols, spanning tree, multicast, QOS, MPLS and security protocols. CCNA/CCNP certification preferred, as well as experience with NSX
- Knowledge of Ethernet (E/FE/GE) and analysis of TCP/IP, HSRP, VRRP, LDAP, multicast (PIM/CGMP/IGMP) and other protocols is a plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
- Must demonstrate ability to perform and respond well in crisis situations
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively cooperate well with others
- Ability to set clear goals/direction and gather the necessary support from team members or vendors to ensure that goals are met/followed
