The CSIM SMA Trading and Trade Support Team is responsible for providing focused support to Portfolio Managers and Traders for daily trade order generation, tax loss harvesting and account maintenance on behalf of Schwab's separately managed account (SMA) products. In addition, the team is responsible for several strategic, multi-year projects, cross-functional reporting, as well as ad-hoc operational strategy support to other teams within the larger organization. We hold ourselves to the highest of standards and strive to create a strong, reliable, and durable operational environment that scales with our growth.

The Sr. Specialist will play a key role in managing client assets against our proprietary models, fulfilling client requests, supporting order generation and assisting in the creation and maintenance of vital client records. The Sr. Specialist will:

  • Effectively partner with a large, geographically dispersed team
  • Complete order generation for all types of daily client requests in accordance with the assigned models
  • Update and maintain the models in our portfolio management system
  • Monitor our portfolio management system setup to analyze order generation implications. Look for areas of improvement to better align order generation with desired Portfolio Manager outcomes.
  • Perform daily/weekly/monthly checks to review accounts for cash and security drift across the strategies, exceptions, possible trade errors, etc.
  • Support the trade allocation, settlement, and affirmation process, as well as, the communication of block trades and allocations to the appropriate internal departments; ensure trades are executed and allocated correctly and in a timely manner
  • Support the resolution of trade errors, escalations, and exceptions
  • Work with Trading, Investment Guidelines Oversight, and Compliance to create and maintain procedures and documentation for best practices
  • Learn how to support other CSIM SMA products in a backup capacity
  • Work on ad hoc projects or initiatives to support the team

What you have

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 2+ years of financial services experience with new account openings, reconciliation or middle office trade support
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Proficient with Microsoft products Word and PowerPoint. Ability to quickly learn new software applications.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with a superior level of attention to detail
  • Collaborative and relational work style with proven success in a team environment
  • Use of VestmarkONE for portfolio management and order generation preferred

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
