Corporate Vendor Management (CVM) at Charles Schwab & Co. is responsible for implementing a firm-wide, end-to-end vendor relationship management process to maximize vendor performance and value. CVM provides strategic sourcing support; identifies, mitigates, monitors, and manages vendor risk; and assists Schwab in meeting regulatory and compliance requirements. The CVM organization is currently seeking to expand category management expertise in the Enterprise Services space (Human Resources, Corporate Real Estate, Professional Services).

What you'll do:

The Senior Vendor Sourcing Manager, Professional Services role plays an essential role within CVM by providing business partners with strategic sourcing support, contract negotiation and risk mitigation. In this role you will also be responsible identifying opportunities, building category strategies, then implementing action plans to drive those strategic efforts.

This position will be responsible for establishing strong relationships with Schwab business partners across the firm and Legal stakeholders to develop, maintain and execute contracts for IT and non-IT professional services. This role will manage all aspects of the strategic sourcing lifecycle; lead negotiations, as well as collaborate with risk groups and legal, as required on vendor engagements. This position will partner with the broader Sourcing team to develop sourcing strategies and ensure that industry-leading procurement services tools are utilized to support growth relationships for our suppliers and business partners. The position will not manage people; it is an individual contributor role.

What you have

To ensure that we fulfill our promise of 'challenging the status quo,' this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

  • 10+ years of experience in category management and strategic sourcing, including creation of category strategies (required)
  • Practice leading complex Request for Proposals (RFPs), including developing market intelligence reports, conducting financial analysis and thorough supplier evaluations (required)
  • Proficiency leading complex contract negotiations, including coordination with up to 9 risk review teams and Legal, in a regulated financial services environment (required)
  • Deep understanding and experience with Professional Services sourcing and contract review and negotiation in complex corporate environments (required)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with a proven track record of building effective working relationships with senior level business partners
  • The ability to partner with and project manage cross-functional teams to drive contract and price negotiations that maximize value and mitigate risks while ensuring internal stakeholders' requirements are met
  • Strong negotiation skills, with ability to effectively explore alternatives to reach mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Proficiency in Excel and Ariba (required)
  • Experience with PeopleSoft and/or Tableau a plus
  • Bachelor's degree
