Charles Schwab User Experience and Design is responsible for software design across mobile, web and desktop platforms. We are a multi-disciplinary group of design system product designers, content writers and researchers.

We are looking for a Sr. UX Designer to join our Everest Design System team. Schwab's Everest Design System is a unified, cross-platform system composed of an UI toolkit for designers and a shared code base for developers. Our principles are based on scalability and reusability, to help build consistency in our digital products, increase efficiency for our teams, strengthen our Schwab brand, and simplify the online experience.

The Everest Design System UX team is responsible for:

Design system expertise and execution

  • Drive design system design and documentation efforts from early discovery to final delivery
  • Create, update and manage design system Figma libraries across web, iOS, and Android platforms
  • Meet project requirements, provide consistent and error-free experiences aligned to brand identity and Schwab design standards, ensuring that every aspect of the design is accessible and inclusive
  • Through design work and audits of the system, look for ways to continue to grow and evolve the system
  • Use various communication techniques to showcase work and persuade through rationale and storytelling
  • Work within an undefined product space to define potential paths forward through problem definition and design thinking

Collaboration and support

  • Use problem definition techniques and data to flesh out project requirements, working cross-discipline with design, product and development
  • Facilitate ideation efforts with a focus on the problem to solve, create a conversation of "how might we", and show not tell through "before and after" designs
  • Lead design reviews and drive decision-making with the understanding that great products are achieved iteratively. Take feedback and identify what needs to be acted upon now, next, later (or not at all)
  • Be an advocate for the design system and help educate others outside the design system team on how to best use the system with their work through reviews, trainings, and support

Leadership & stakeholder engagement

  • Build relationships by creating trust with cross-functional partners through setting expectations on process/deliverables
  • Actively seek and use ideas and feedback from leadership and stakeholders to strategically guide delivery
  • Make others feel comfortable by conveying interest in their feedback/viewpoint, anticipating reactions and responding attentively to their ideas and concerns

What you have

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of rich interaction and visual design experience across responsive web
  • 4+ years of UX design experience for touch-based mobile interfaces
  • 2+ years of focus on design systems for web and native platforms: building and maintaining Figma libraries, writing design documentation
  • Knowledge of design systems and the role they play within an organization; Ability to work with teams outside of the design system to educate and drive the design system adoption within their work
  • Experience with all aspects of a user-centered interaction design process, including user research and testing, developing user flows, creating wireframes, creating prototypes, and creating annotated design specifications
  • Experience aligning visual design approach for product standardization, including how aspects like layout, color, spacing and typography impact how the user will interact with the system and how the system should respond
  • Ability to define problems and create solutions based on user needs for foundational elements, components, patterns, and templates of the design system and its libraries
  • Experience working in a collaborative multi-disciplinary team within an iterative process and an Agile development methodology. Experience running design sessions with cross-functional teams
  • Strong self-management skills, ability to manage substantial responsibility, capable of managing your project schedules, and an ability to collaborate across levels and roles
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to craft concise, effective documentation

  • Effective relationship builder--ability to partner cross-functionally, cross-enterprise and work effectively with various levels of the organization as well as various personality types
  • Detail-focused, organized, and able to attend to a variety of tasks throughout the day. Comfort in a project-oriented work environment, with a positive attitude and solid work ethic
