Enterprise and Operational Risk Management (EORM) effectively identifies, measures, and manages risk across all subsidiaries and affiliates to support Schwab's strategic and business objectives. The Risk Technology and Application Management (RTAM) team within EORM manages technology products that support risk programs across Corporate Risk Management.

Reporting to a Director of Risk Technology and Application Management (RTAM), this position requires a self-motivated individual with strong problem-solving skills who can contribute to a highly collaborative culture and a team environment and deliver innovative, value-based reliable solutions. A proven track record of delivering high quality risk technology products and services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly is key to success in the role.

In addition, the successful candidate will bring an ability to prioritize, to communicate clearly and compellingly, and to understand how to drive a high level of focus and excellence building and leveraging a strong team. Our product managers and owners drive their organizations to continuously contribute to evolving the Schwab experience and risk management technology.

The Senior Specialist will have the opportunity to work closely with team members across Corporate Risk Management (CRM) as they execute key functions that include engaging Corporate Risk Management business partners and numerous risk technology stakeholders.

You will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Help manage Corporate Risk Management's Data Governance program including identification and monitoring of Critical Data Elements (CDEs) and data lineage development on key risk metrics
  • Maintain the structural integrity of the Data Governance program for Corporate Risk Management that supports an effective and efficient data risk management program
  • Manage implementation of updates and enhancements to critical data elements and key risk metrics within the Firm's Data Governance tool
  • Provide continued support and guidance to our business partners to ensure adherence to the Data Governance program
  • Enhance the capabilities within Corporate Risk Management's Data Governance program to provide better functionality that improves data connections, reporting and monitoring
  • Work with leadership and partners on the identification of Critical Data Elements within new and existing risk technology products
  • Direct large-scale, complex projects often involving multiple internal and external constituents and partners
  • Define and tracks project milestones while developing, maintaining, and reporting on an overall integrated delivery plan

What you have

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1+ years of experience in risk management, risk reporting, data governance, audit, or similar role
  • Independent judgement with strong analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Experience with advanced data structures and technologies such as SQL, Oracle, ETL (Extract, transform, load) Tools, JSON
  • Understanding of technology implementation, product management and product owner methodologies
  • Proficiency in Agile project management, with the ability to incorporate and understand mass information from a variety of sources to recommend a course of action
  • High Attention to Detail: Confirm the accuracy of information in work product
  • Enhanced Communication Skills: Highly effective verbal and written communication with stakeholders across levels
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Anticipate potential obstacles and develops contingency plans to overcome them
  • Self-starter with strong organizational/time management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments all at one time
  • Effective relationship builder; ability to partner with others to work effectively with various levels of the organization as well as various personality types

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or business equivalent
