Located within the Conduct Risk Management section of Financial Crimes Risk Management, the purpose of the Internal Investigations team is to investigate potential violations of the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, the law, regulations, and/or Schwab conduct-related policies.
The primary role of the Internal Investigations Senior Manager is to investigate incidents of potential violations. These investigations are often sophisticated and require excellent interview and other communication skills, as well as the ability to build effective partnerships and work in close collaboration with internal and external partners. The Internal Investigations Senior Manager will lead and/or assist in conducting highly confidential internal investigations. This includes collecting and researching evidence from various sources, conducting interviews, and creating investigative reports documenting relevant facts and information pertaining to the matter. The Senior Manager will use a variety of business systems and investigative tools in conducting and resolving investigations.

The Senior Manager will report to the Internal Investigations Director and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Investigating cases including conducting employee interviews.
- Collaborating with subject matter experts, business leadership, Human Resources, and the Corporate Legal Group as necessary.
- Presenting case summaries and investigative findings to management, including senior leadership, as well as partners within other areas of the firm.
- Filing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs).
- Identifying process risks and control gaps and proposing updates to guidelines and procedures as necessary.
- Partnering with Compliance personnel in response to regulatory requests.
- Testifying in FINRA arbitration hearings related to internal investigations.
- Providing regular updates to management on cases, threats, trends, and projects.
What you have
- At least five years' background experience in Law Enforcement, or in financial services industry (banking and/or securities), Risk Management or Compliance investigations.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills.
- Strong focus on attention to detail.
- Experience interviewing.
- Ability to work independently, concurrently handle multiple investigations, demonstrate excellent time management skills, and prioritize matters based on potential risk to the firm and its clients.
- Skilled working closely with internal business partners.
- Strong research, analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Experience preparing and filing Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR) within regulatory standards and timelines is a plus (but not required).
- Active Series 7/63 & 9/10 a plus.
- Certified Financial Crime Specialist and/or Certified Fraud Examiner Certification a plus.
