Our Opportunity:
Wealth and Asset Management Engineering (WAM-E) is part of the Schwab Technology Services (STS) organization which is responsible for the company's use of information technology including all telecommunications, operations, and client and business applications.
WAM-E is aligned to support the technology needs of Schwab Asset Management (SAM), which is the investment advisor for Schwab's proprietary mutual funds, referred to as the Schwab Funds; and it includes Schwab's exchange-traded funds, referred to as the Schwab ETFs™.
What you'll do:
This Sr Scrum Master position based in Southlake, Texas is responsible for promoting Agile values and principles within the development team and the organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Sprint Planning and Facilitation - Work with the Product Owner on planning and roadmap discussions; Facilitate sprints; Backlog refinement; Foster communication.
- Act as a Servant Leader - Foster team self-organization; Removes impediments to progress; Encouraging teamwork and close collaboration
- Maximize Team Performance - Work with the Product Owner to provide clear communication of product vision and priority to ensure the work is well defined; Monitor and coach teams to help ensure high performance
- Coach Agile Practices - Ensure application of agile principles and team understanding; Foster creativity and empowerment; and promote continuous improvement. This includes helping to remove impediments to progress, facilitate meetings, and doing things like working with the product owner to make sure the product backlog is well - groomed and ready for the next sprint. The Scrum Master acts as a buffer between the team and any distracting influences.

This role requires a highly motivated and experienced senior Scrum Master with pride of ownership reflected through a disciplined software development approach, and accountability for delivery.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A university degree from a well-respected academic institution; advanced degrees in Business Management, and/or other professional certifications are a plus.
- At least 5 years' experience as a Scrum Master delivering .NET and C#, particularly distributed and Cloud applications.
- At least 3 years' experience working in the Asset/Investment management industry.
- At least 3 years' experience using agile tooling such as Jira or Rally.
- Must be able to communicate well with teams and demonstrate value-add principles.
- 1-3 years of Schwab technology Domain experience as a current or recent contractor or employee
- Must have adequate agile knowledge with software development teams.
- Effective at mediating peer disputes by addressing behaviors that are counterproductive to the team dynamic and meeting sprint objectives.
- Preferred: First level Scrum Master certification: Scrum Alliance: Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Scrum.org: Professional Scrum Master (PSM 1)
