At Schwab, the Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) organization serves as the trusted stewards of Schwab's platforms, offering efficient, reliable, and easy to operate environments, to meet the needs of all end-users. The Network Observability and Automation team provides monitoring, telemetry and automation solutions for the network engineering organization at Schwab. Our automation practice develops pragmatic, reliable, repeatable process automation and optimization through a combination of network engineering knowledge and coding. Our network observability practice provides network engineers with monitoring and instrumentation of the Schwab network that allow us to quickly identify service impacting issues.

We are looking for a strategic-minded technology leader with a strong background of architecting and engineering solutions, defining roadmaps, and seeing solutions through from requirements gathering to delivery. This role will provide technical leadership and oversight for the firm's network observability and automation platforms and processes.
What you are good at:
- Architecture, engineering, and implementation of monitoring, observability and automation solutions at an enterprise scale.
- Active communication of architecture, design, and high-level approach for stakeholders the implementation of solutions.
- Partnering with and presenting to architectural review boards
- Utilization of architectural principles and practice to solve large problems and distill solutions into manageable, executable components.
- Finding solutions through research and hands-on experimentation and prototyping.
- Oversight and alignment of solution implementation to ensure that what is implemented is correct.
- Identification of opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Working directly with engineering management to ensure team members have everything they need to do the job.
- Mentoring team members to assist development of their technical skills and enable career growth.
What you have
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's and/or master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of leading the design, implementation, and ongoing support of architectural initiatives from inception to operational maintenance.
- Experience with deploying and maintaining monitoring/telemetry platforms on an enterprise scale.
- Experience designing, maintaining and using enterprise configuration management solutions. Ansible/Salt Stack preferred.
- Expertise in Linux and/or Windows server class platforms
- Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum, experience adopting or leading continuous integration and continuous delivery concepts and frameworks with hands-on experience with Git and JIRA.
- Strong knowledge of programming and/or shell scripting. Python, .Net or Java preferred.
- Working knowledge of Cloud Platforms and containerization with Docker/Kubernetes and orchestration tools.
- Working knowledge of building and managing networks preferred.

- Previous experience in a highly regulated environment with appreciation for audit and regulatory principles will benefit the applicant.
