The Credit Portfolio Manager position will be based in Westlake, TX (Dallas-Fort Worth) or Lone Tree, CO (Denver), reporting to the Head of Investment Grade Credit Portfolio Management. The candidate will regularly interact with members of our team across offices in San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, Jersey City, Westlake, and Naples, FL. The position will follow Schwab's corporate Workplace Flexibility Policy, which currently requires a minimum of three days per week in the office.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitor and manage fixed income mutual funds and ETFs, including modeling trades daily and for month-end rebalances to ensure they align with investment strategies and guidelines.
  • Continuously refine portfolio construction techniques and enhance existing fixed income strategies by collaborating with traders, quantitative analysts, and other investment professionals
  • Drive innovation and optimize investment processes by leveraging technology, automation, and advanced programming skills
  • Integrate and improve the portfolio optimization framework, working closely and step-by-step with technologists for further advancements
  • Engage with corporate bonds portfolio management team to deliver benchmark & portfolio surveillance to identify market opportunities
  • Effectively make corporate action decisions and manage portfolios for tax efficiency
  • Maintain strong rapport with capital markets team, market makers, and various counterparties
  • Present and discuss market updates and opinions across broader investment teams

What you have

  • We are seeking a candidate that is passionate about investing and the global capital markets with strong quantitative and technical aptitude, including a degree in the following or related areas of study:
    • Statistics, Economics, Finance, Mathematics / Computational Finance, Operations Research, Computer Science and/or Data Analytics / Science.
    • Candidates with general business or other degrees and demonstrated quantitative experience and expertise may also be considered.
    • Progress toward or possession of CFA credential is preferred
  • Over 5 years of experience in Fixed Income portfolio management
  • Knowledge of public fixed income markets, including credit, interest rates, and structured finance
  • Advanced programming experience (Python, R, and/or other) and data science skillset
  • Demonstrated experience integrating technology into investment decision-making that elevates our investment process
  • Effective communicator, both written and verbal, with strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented setting and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Detail-oriented; must possess the ability to produce accurate results within tight time constraints
  • Familiarity with fixed income applications including Aladdin, Bloomberg, and Tradeweb and/or other EMS/OMS
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
