The Managing Director, Workplace Financial Services experience will be responsible for defining, delivering, integrating and managing key enabling capabilities. The Managing Director will lead the WFS Strategy, Product Management, Client Experience, Project Management and Field Enablement teams for Schwab's $649B WFS assets including leading reporting functions in support of the RPS, SPS and DBS Businesses. The role will report to the Managing Director, Workplace Financial Services Enterprise.

Key Outcomes:

  • Translate and align WFS strategic priorities across all enterprises and serve as a centralized owner for all offer components and roadmaps, and act as a centralized point of integration for broader Schwab into WFS to ensure alignment of business planning and prioritization.
  • Deliver and improve enterprise products, offers and services supporting the needs of multiple businesses (RPS, SPS, DBS).
  • Manage related priorities across the business lines enabling capabilities to support client experience, operating leverage and business growth.
  • Create a collaborative, yet disciplined model for delivery and ongoing service.
  • Assess business value of products/offerings to continually inform, prioritize and sequence development, investment, and ROI.
  • Align efforts to drive client satisfaction, asset growth, retention, and extension of opportunities. Serve as the implementation arm for new WFS products, services, and capabilities.
  • Build and nurture strong collaborative relationships with clients, prospect, consultants, regulators and vendors.
  • Facilitate strong organizational partnerships, strategic alignment, and effective collaboration with cross-functional partners to create detailed project plans for implementing the recommended business transformations, including timelines, milestones, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Establish program governance and tracking in support of WFS key initiatives and roadmap execution.
  • Assess change impacts (new product launches, initiatives, etc.) to inform field readiness sequencing and alignment with enterprise partners and non WFS specific change initiatives.
  • Develop and implement field change strategies (comms, training, content creation, knowledge mgmt. updates, measurement criteria, etc.) to maximize visibility and adoption and establish content management strategy and maintenance approach while monitoring change saturation within field teams to influence launch calendaring and sequencing.
  • Lead interaction with industry leaders and external constituents such as plan sponsors and consultants and serve as a center of excellence for current marketplace, industry, and client trends to identify current gaps and inform, sequence, and develop future capabilities.
  • Extensive collaboration with Finance, Retail Strategy and Experience and Operations and Service to ensure driving growth and efficiency at scale.

What you have

Required Experience:

  • Extensive Workplace Financial Services business knowledge where have led strategy, product development and experience at efforts at similar level of scale.
  • Demonstrated track record of execution of large, complex platform transformation initiatives.
  • Delivering strategic and actionable insights, competitive analysis, and market research to inform product experience and growth.
  • Track record of successful collaboration with key cross-functional partners to advance the strategic objectives of WFS including key stakeholders in Retail, Legal & Compliance, Finance and Marketing.
  • An undergraduate degree is required, Advanced degree preferred.

Preferred Experience:

  • Highly effective influencing skills, outstanding planning, communications, organizational and judgment skills
  • Extremely strong client relationship management and negotiation skills required with the ability to assess and effectively communicate processing capabilities and identify alternative solutions for clients and business partners.
  • Ability to leverage strategic and analytical capabilities to make sound, timely decisions based on client and field input supporting and maintaining a strong production environment including evaluating risk versus expense versus the client experience.
  • Leadership and relationship-building skills, including ability to influence and build consensus across experience design, product, technology, marketing, regulatory, and other areas of the firm and all levels of the organization.
  • Strong client focus and the ability to effectively build relationships, establish trust, respect, competence, and confidence.
  • Combination of strategic, practical, and creative thinker; strong "systemic" thinker who can connect all the dots, taking the initiative and resulting capabilities from concept to execution.
  • Confidence and courage in business and talent decisions, actions, and communications with a demonstrated ability to take decisive action when needed, including championing ideas, position, or dissent.
  • Experience managing a significant budget and hiring plan with material enterprise-wide business impact maximizing the investment.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization.
  • Strong emotional intelligence/maturity and senior level executive presence.
  • Experienced in effectively assessing, selecting, and developing talent for the firm; adept at providing balanced, direct, and actionable feedback to employees. Experience managing multiple priorities and overseeing distinct teams with varied strengths.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, including external communication experience.
