Schwab's Personal Trust Services ("PTS") organization provides personal trust products and services to Schwab's clients, including individual investors, beneficiaries, RIAs, and corporate fiduciaries. PTS products and services are provided through three separate legal entities; Charles Schwab Trust Company, Charles Schwab Trust Company of Delaware, and Charles Schwab &Co. PTS products cover the full fiduciary, agency, and custody spectrum, including fiduciary trust administration and investment management, directed trustee, trusteed IRA, administrative agency, trust reporting, and trust outsourcing.

The Manager, Trust Transition is a key member of our growing trust organization and is responsible for taking ownership of assigned new trust opportunities to ensure exceptional client and partner experiences from initial inquiry through designation and appointment of Schwab as successor or current corporate trustee. This includes speaking with clients, attorneys, accountants, beneficiaries; as well as partnering with internal partners to ensure key information and documentation is collected.
Schwab follows the three lines of defense model of risk governance. The Manager, Trust Transition is a first line of defense position for CSTC and CSTCD and assures compliance with all trust company policies and procedures, Schwab's enterprise risk management program, as well as all applicable state and federal banking and trust regulations in the context of their responsibilities.
- Reviewing trust agreements, court documents, and asset statements to assess acceptability, profitability, and potential for risk in serving as trustee
- Supporting a wide variety of trust services
- Partnering and collaborating with teammates, business partners, and clients to deliver a superior, white glove service experience to our clients
- Coordinating with attorneys to accomplish judicial and non-judicial processes as necessary, ensuring that trusts comply with Schwab's requirements and applicable trust law
- Shepherding clients' trusts through the stages of trust onboarding including trust review, feedback, drafting/amendment, and trustee designation and appointment
- Proactively participating and providing input into continuous improvement to procedures and processes to align with a "Through Client's Eyes" perspective consistent with Schwab's client-first culture.
- Actively participating in special projects and initiatives in the spirit of innovation, collaboration, and community
- Assisting with internal and external audits
- Complying with state and federal banking regulations and internal policies and procedures regarding asset eligibility, OFAC, AML, and Customer Identification Program
What you have
To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of 'challenging the status quo,' this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher or equivalent experience required; JD, relevant coursework or CTFA highly preferred
- 5+ years' experience in banking or financial industry, trust and estate administration or related trust, financial or legal/paralegal experience a plus
- Minimum of 3 years client-facing experience required
- Well-developed interpersonal communication skills
- Aptitude for distilling legal information into layman's terms for client conversations
- Strong analytical skills, ability to research problems, determine root causes and solutions
- Superior organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities without sacrificing quality or accuracy
- Collaborative team player with contagiously positive, outgoing, can-do attitude. Thrives on initiating, building and encouraging strong authentic relationships inside and outside the group; highly reciprocal; navigates and activates alignment across organizational silos
- Critical thinker who can identify gaps and inefficiencies and create and communicate solutions to management and leadership

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
