The technical engineering manager will be a hands-on lead engineer with technical/business acumen and leadership experience that excels in a dynamic, fast-moving, and agile environment and is passionate about developing high quality, high performance, and scalable solutions. The candidate will work aside a team of seasoned engineers whose main objective is to maintain all aspects of the system health and ensure the on-time, quality delivery of platform and system releases.

This position will be part of the operational Data Exchange (ODX) Technology team within Enterprise Data organization at Schwab focusing on providing Operational Intelligence and Insights, and position Schwab to remain a Data Driven organization using a world class Data Exchange platform. ODX team is beginning its cloud journey, and this role will play a key role in modernizing and migrating existing on prem Data Exchanges (DX's) to Google Cloud. The DX's supports various critical business functions and business units - Finance, Futures & Forex Trading, Risk, Treasury, Compliance, etc. This is a role for someone who is excited to lead and build future state data platform that is going to be pivotal to drive client-centricity, reducing time to market, scale & increasing efficiency. The model is insights-driven and focuses on rapid iterations to drive innovation and transformation. In this role you will:
- Provide technical and project leadership to drive fast platform and data pipeline development.
- Drive Agile development supporting organization priorities and innovation.
- Hands-on development and mentoring as necessary for all members of the team to ensure team and project success.
- Drive outcomes and team performance, collaborates with all to achieve results, and thinks strategically.
- Work closely with development, product owner and team members to decompose stories, design features, and prioritize tasks.
- Lead team in execution of application support and automation for deployments.
- Interface with product owner and key stakeholders in Project Management, Business, Development, QA and Technology Operations to ensure high quality delivery of software projects on time and budget.
- Identify technology risks and dependencies early to establish mitigation plans.
- Create and maintains artifacts for production support and deployment processes.
- Meet periodically with onshore and offshore developers and application support to review and improve processes.
- Utilize automated software tools and frameworks for deployments and on-going maintenance activities.

What you have
Required
- Masters or Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar/equivalent area of study
- 1-2 years of Schwab domain technology experience as a current of recent contractor or employee
- Minimum of 5 years working in a financial services industry.
- Minimum of 12 years of solid data engineering and automation experience.
- Minimum of 5 years project leadership experience in matrixed organization
- 5 years of exceptional experience and demonstrate proficiency in cloud-based technologies (GCP preferred or AWS).
- 5 years of experience in leading a data innovation and data technology function in the context of data as the product. Also including experience with Web, APIs, RPA, AI and DB engineering.
Preferred
- Experience with Futures & Forex Trading and data platforms
- Good understanding of latest Architecture and Development Standards and Guidelines
- Experience providing guidance, direction, and feedback to other technical staff in order to meet agreed upon objectives.
- Ability to analyze, propose and implement timely, cost effective, quality solutions for all issues or problems within area of responsibility.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required for composing and delivering technical presentations or other forms of documentation to various level of technical and non-technical management.
- Proficient managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, geographically dispersed environment
- Good understanding of Database, preferably SQL and/or PostGres
- Good understanding of Data pipelines and patterns.
- Experience in Python coding skills
- Experience in dev tools such as GitHub, Bamboo, JMeter, SonarQube
- Experience with mapping data required for regulatory, non-regulatory data needs
