Enterprise and Operational Risk Management (EORM) effectively identifies, measures, and manages risk across all subsidiaries and affiliates to support Schwab's strategic and business objectives.

The Risk Technology and Application Management team within EORM manages several risk management technology areas and products for the company, including Actimize and a growing number of technology products that support risk programs across Corporate Risk Management.

Reporting to a Director in the Risk Technology and Products organization, this opportunity will require a dynamic and engaging professional to further support improvement of Schwab's current state product management practices, while enabling our future state risk frameworks, processes, and associated technologies to be realized. This position provides a high-visibility opportunity to influence innovation, Agile adoption, and implement business-critical change in a rapidly evolving regulatory environment.

What you'll do:

Reporting to a Director in the Risk Technology and Application Management organization, the candidate will be responsible for supporting risk technology product management throughout the software development lifecycle, while working in a fast paced and continually evolving Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a Product Owner for the Scrum teams that develop the Corporate Risk Management technology solutions that you are accountable for:
    • Develop, adapt and convey the system and project vision to your Scrum team(s).
    • Responsible for decision and oversight of what to develop, as well as what not to develop, through ordering and grooming the system backlog
    • Provide and receive feedback through participation in Scrum activities including daily Scrum meetings, sprint review, backlog grooming, release planning and sprint planning
    • Write user stories, epics and features and/or oversee and approve those written by others
    • Elicit, identify, document, and refine requirements from business problems to detailed user stories and acceptance criteria that may include technical requirements
    • Ensure acceptance criteria is established for each user story
    • Develop a fast-paced product development culture to create, test, release, and measure product value
    • Meeting, building relationships, and gathering requirements from various stakeholders and documenting those requirements in a manner consistent with department standards
  • Assist with onboarding additional risk technology products as part of the Corporate Risk Management product centralization effort:
  • Define and implement product management best practices in areas such as: Product Governance, Access Management, Information/Documentation Management, Data & Reporting, and Technology management
  • Assist new team members with transition and onboarding to centralized product management team
  • Take on Product Owner responsibilities (as described in the section above) for additional risk products that are brought into the portfolio
  • Understand and implement vendor hosted AI solutions to advance the future of risk applications
  • Research, analyze and process data from applications for audit, regulatory exams or other asks

What you have

Required Qualifications:

Business Competencies:

  • Six (6+) years experience in a role as a key member of a project team
  • Independent judgment with strong analytical skills
  • Strong written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability in communicating with different business partners
  • Experience in an environment where demands and methods are constantly changing;
  • Self-motivated and able to bring projects to conclusion
  • Highly responsive, leveraging ability to multi-task, work efficiently and meet tight deadlines
  • Risk Management experience
  • Sound judgment, planning, project management and organization skills
  • Demonstrate business acumen and the ability to apply technology solutions to solve business problems
  • Bachelor degree required

Technical Competencies:

  • Scrum Agile methodology experience required
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Prior experience with Financial Crimes and Risk Management tools
  • Understanding of technology data structures and reporting tools
  • Prior experience implementing SaaS hosted solutions
  • Knowledge of PowerApps

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sql, Python, C# or other languages preferred
