Charles Schwab External Affairs is looking for a manager, based in New York, to support external communication efforts for the firm's corporate and executive functions.
This role will support the team's efforts to manage and engage external stakeholders, including media and influencers, helping to drive and measure key corporate initiatives in alignment with our strategic priorities. Reporting to the Director of External Corporate and Executive Communications, this is an opportunity to join a team of talented communicators who lead the firm's priority external initiatives.

About Corporate Affairs:
Schwab's Corporate Affairs team creates value by engaging stakeholders in Schwab's story, building trust and protecting and strengthening the firm's reputation. We are shapers and protectors of Schwab's communications, culture, and reputation, building connections with key stakeholders.
What you'll do:
- Partner with the team to develop and implement communications strategies that engage and resonate with our priority stakeholders.
- Drive proactive and reactive planning and material development, including drafting briefs, pitches, backgrounders, press releases, key messages, FAQs, and occasionally developing owned content pieces (authoring bylines and articles) for our corporate website, and other materials, as needed.
- Maintain up-to-date reference materials, including media lists, calendars, and message libraries, using in-house and third-party management tools, and partnering with agencies to support work.
- Manage and appropriately vector media inquiries for External Affairs leadership team.
- Partner with internal and agency colleagues to support monitoring and measurement needs.
- Serve as a thought partner to peers and seniors alike, offering perspectives and ideas to support and contribute to our work in External Affairs.
What you have
To ensure that we fulfill our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have:
Required Qualifications:
- Education: BA/BS degree required.
- 2-5 years of communications experience, preferably in financial services/capital markets/payments industries (in-house and/or agency).
- Excellent written and verbal communications and editing skills, with an eye to messaging for a range of channels and audience types.
- Experience with and a passion for media relations and external engagement.
- Strong project management skills, and a love for details and operational efficiency.
- Employees may have the flexibility for a hybrid schedule, following our hybrid work flexibility program where they divide their time between working remotely or in the office. This role is expected to be in the office 4 days a week for the first six months, then transition to be in office 3 days a week.
