At Schwab, the primary responsibility of the Mainframe Storage Engineer is to provide day-to-day support for the Mainframe Storage environment managing capacity, identifying storage constraints, provide application support, and be part of a 24 x 7 on-call rotation. The role will be part of a team that configures and deploys new Mainframe hardware on a scheduled basis in the Mainframe environment.
Our Mainframe Storage environment utilizes IBM hardware for DASD - DS8900s and TAPE - TS7000 systems. This role also provides the opportunity and experience to work in a GDPS - Global and Metro Mirroring environment.

Responsibilities include:
- Proficient in maintaining and managing DASD & Tape environments using various storage management products/utilities including DFSMS components, device support facility (ICKDSF), and RMM tape management system.
- Proficient in supporting storage management product upgrades & customization.
- Proven working knowledge in maintaining the SMS configurations, catalogs, and monitoring/maintaining space availability.
- Hands on experience with the IBM DS8000 Disk Subsystem, TS7000 Virtual Tape Subsystem and GDPS Multi-Target Metro Mirror.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products that include - Word and Excel. Excellent collaboration skills with internal as well as external team members.
- Follow all Change and Incident Management Procedures. Create the required technical documents that include software upgrade and backout processes.
- Must be able to work weeknights and weekend to implement changes.
- Provide On-Call support on rotation basis.

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 6 years of experience supporting a Mainframe Storage Environment.
- Hands on experience supporting DASD and Virtual Tape Systems.
- Experience with Mainframe Backup and Archival methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- GDPS Replication (or related technology).
- Logical Copy Protection (or related Cyber Resiliency / Ransomware protection).
In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
