The Retail Web Technology organization provides a high quality, common platform for all Schwab clients including advisors, individuals, and active investors. The Retail Web Technology Quality Engineering (RWT QE) Automation Tools team provides testing tools in support of our client-facing web applications.

The Retail Web Technology Quality Engineering Automation Tools team is responsible for defining standards and automation tooling strategy, creating, and maintaining automation tools, collecting metrics in support of functional, regression and accessibility testing. In this team, we strive to embody Schwab's "Through Clients' Eyes" strategy through our people and creative solutions.

Are you a highly skilled Automation Quality Engineer with Lead experience? Do you live the ATDD dream, and have proven expertise writing excellent automation in WebdriverIO (WDIO)? We'd love to tell you more. Your responsibilities would include:

  • Define Test Strategy across the RWT organization, including Cross-Browser, Localization, Accessibility, Resiliency testing.
  • Maintain and extend WebdriverIO based framework.
  • Integrate automation within the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Document all framework components and tools.
  • Train product team members in quality assurance best practices, particularly regarding Test Driven Development, BDD, Test Automation and Test Metrics.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve automation issues faced by product team members.
  • Partner with geographically distributed teams to plan our future QE tooling and technology decisions.
  • Virtualize APIs.
  • Automate Accessibility testing.
  • Measure and increase test coverage.
  • Analyze production issues to identify root cause and associated next steps.
  • Promote best practices for automated tests, particularly in writing robust, maintainable test scripts.
  • Evaluate software performance and current test methodologies, recommend process improvements.

What you have

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Software Quality Engineering.
  • 8+ years developing, executing, and maintaining automated scripts for Web UI testing.
  • 8+ years work experience in industry-standard tools for logging bugs and managing test cases (e.g., JIRA/MTM, Zephyr/HPQ).
  • 5+ years coding experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, or other object-oriented programming languages.
  • 5+ years of experience with WebdriverIO (WDIO).
  • Proven track record of 5+ years effectively interacting with diverse teams and stakeholders and presenting for large audiences including developers, SDETs and managers.
  • 5+ years experience demonstating ability to successfully balance and deliver multiple geographically distributed QE projects with concurrent initiatives.
  • 5+ years demonstrated agility to adjust to changing business needs, priorities, and emerging technologies in a fast-paced setting.
  • 5+ years developing automation frameworks and associated tools.
  • 3+ years leading and mentoring junior staff and other team members.
  • 2+ years writing automated tests for cross browser (SauceLabs) and localization testing.
  • 2+ years experience with accessibility testing.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with Web services virtualization.
  • A keen eye for detail and a dedication to producing quality work within stringent timelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Gherkin language, like Cucumber, JBehave, SpecFlow, JUnit, TestNG, Jest, and Mocha.
  • Experience automating with Deque Axe tools.
  • Understanding of CI/CD practices and Lean DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Expertise with Jenkins, Bamboo, and GitHub's CI/CD features.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities with the knack for dissecting complex issues, recognizing patterns, and efficiently resolving problems.
  • Financial/Trading services industry experience is a plus.
  • AWS cloud experience and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
