At Charles Schwab, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated seasoned Application Developer with expertise in Java and Angular UI within the Data and Rep Technology (DaRT) organization to support our ambitious AIML focused initiatives. This role sets the stage for revolutionary advancements in how we leverage data and AI on our modern platforms, involving the development of high-quality, high-performance, and scalable software in a fast paced, Agile environment. The ideal candidate will balance design, leadership, and hands-on focused coding.

What you're good at

Application Development:

  • Hands-On Coding: Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of web applications using Java and related technologies.
  • Code Quality: Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code, following best practices and coding standards.
  • Testing and Debugging: Participate in testing and debugging activities to ensure the delivery of high-quality software.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with senior developers, designers, and other team members to implement new features and enhance existing ones.
  • Learning and Development: Continuously improve your skills and knowledge through hands-on experience and ongoing learning opportunities.

Operational Excellence:

  • Monitoring and Logging: Develop and maintain a robust monitoring framework that tracks performance metrics and logs critical events. Use this data to drive continuous improvement and ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Security and Compliance: Support the implementation of comprehensive security protocols and compliance measures across all development. Regularly review and update these protocols to mitigate risks and respond to evolving threats.
  • Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Establish and test disaster recovery plans that ensure rapid restoration of services in the event of outages or other disruptive incidents. Maintain business continuity by implementing failover mechanisms and redundant systems.

What you have

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
  • A technical background with 5+ years' experience that includes proficiency with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Proficient in Java programming with hands-on experience in web application development
  • Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like Spring or Angular is a plus.
  • Understanding of databases and SQL.
  • Critical-thinking and strong problem-solving skills with ability to analyze and understand data.
  • Familiar and comfortable with agile development techniques.
  • Demonstrates ability to work effectively within a team and with cross-functional technical and business teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience or knowledge of database design and development (SQL and NoSQL).
  • Experience or knowledge with cloud infrastructure such as Cloud Foundry, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Strong understanding of security protocols, Identity & Access Management (IAM), and compliance frameworks relevant to the financial services industry.
