The Schwab Technology Services (STS) Portfolio & Project Management (PPM) organization partners with Business and Technology Leaders to prioritize and execute technology work for strategic business sponsored initiatives, enhancements, as well as standard technology operations, production support, and technology enablement to ensure STS capacity is focused on the most important work for the company.

Project Managers are responsible for establishing and leading enterprise-wide, cross functional strategic initiatives. They lead a variety of different types of projects including launching new products and services, medium to large-scale application development, systems integration, operational efficiency improvements, process reengineering, and infrastructure upgrades and deployments.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for planning, orchestrating, and delivering a given strategic initiative including business, operational, and information technology deliverables
  • Ensures end results are of the highest caliber with a clearly articulated scope and quantifiable business benefit
  • Manages medium to large-scale projects often involving multiple internal and external constituents and partners
  • Directly manages all aspects of the project life cycle and oversees all phases of a project
  • Rigorously manages scope to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed-upon time, cost, and quality parameters
  • Validates financial forecasts, cost assumptions, and provides ongoing reconciliation of resources and other related project expenditures
  • Works with resource managers to ensure that resource capacity planning is accurately forecast, and provides ongoing reconciliation of actual time spent against forecasts
  • Defines and tracks project milestones while developing, maintaining, and reporting on an overall integrated delivery plan
  • Handles risks and issues management for the project-level risks and interdependencies
  • Partners with Product Owners and Scrum Masters to track Agile development milestones and support Agile practices as needed
  • Manages team relationships to ensure effective delivery
  • Facilitates problem-solving and resolves stakeholder conflict
  • Teaches, coaches, and mentors team members to remove roadblocks and drive project execution

  • Solid understanding of various software development methodologies, including Agile/Scrum

  • Ability to execute with limited information and ambiguity

What you have

Required Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of project management experience, managing multiple medium to large, complex and cross functional projects, with emphasis on product development, systems, and technical environments
  • 5-8 years of experience with project management tools and artifacts, including MS Project, Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, project budgets, change requests, status reports, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to mobilize and motivate teams, set direction and approach, resolve conflict, deliver tough messages with grace
  • Proven ability to quickly build relationships and earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated, applied experience establishing and delivering complex projects
  • BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience

Preferred Skills:

  • Background/experience in financial services industry
  • Experience with and understanding of various software development methodologies, including Agile/Scrum
  • PMP or PMI-ACP certification
