Wealth and Asset Management (WAM) Engineering is an organization within Schwab Technology Services aligned to support the technology needs of Schwab Asset Management (SAM), Wealth & Advice Solutions (WAS), the Schwab Center for Financial Research (SCFR), and Third-Party Platform teams. WAM Engineering Investments, an organization within WAM Engineering, is dedicated to providing support to SAM which is a growth area for Schwab.
This newly created role will support the future growth of the SAM business. As a Senior Specialist, Software Development & Engineering, you will be developing new applications and enhancing existing ones, as a member of a high-performing engineering team. You will deliver high-quality solutions that meet business objectives in a flexible, collaborative, and rapidly changing environment.

You will play a critical role in supporting key stakeholders across the SAM organization, which is focused on Schwab's proprietary ETF, Mutual Fund, and SMA products. Supported business functions span SAM's equity portfolio management and equity trading teams. You will be working with a team of talented and highly motivated technologists that strive to make technology a strategic differentiator for Schwab's SAM business and their clients.
What you have
This role requires a highly motivated, organized, and business-focused software developer with a proven record of delivery. You have a desire to continuously improve a highly customized technology stack that is critical to SAM's competitive advantage in the asset management industry. You thrive working in a team environment, both with technical and business partners, while being a self-motivated problem solver.
Required qualifications:
- Hands on experience gained through at least 3 years in a moderately complex software development role
- Proficiency in C#/.NET (including .NET Core) and relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
- Recent experience working in Agile (Scrum or Kanban) teams, as both a practitioner and an adherent, using Jira/Confluence
- Experience with Angular, TypeScript, HTML, CSS
- Familiarity with event-driven programming (RabbitMQ or similar)
- Basic PowerShell for scripting/automation
- Ability to perform code reviews, debug, and troubleshoot complex issues
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Bamboo, GitHub, Bitbucket)
Preferred qualifications:
- A university degree in a technical program, such as Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems. Advanced degrees and/or other professional certifications are a plus
- Experience in financial industry-specific technologies, such as FIX messaging, market data APIs, and trade order management systems (OMS)
- Control-M (job scheduling)
- Exposure to Informatica or other ETL tools
- SonarQube or Veracode for code quality/security
- Knowledge of Splunk (monitoring/log analysis)
- Experience with cloud technologies; AWS, GCP, or PCF will be a plus
- Strong customer focus with a sense of ownership and determination to drive solutions in a collaborative environment
