The mission of eCrimes is to provide oversight of internal fraud controls, covertly detect fraudulent behavior, and to protect Schwab and our clients who have been compromised by bad actors.

What you'll do:

  • A hands-on role in the effective development and management of Charles Schwab's online fraud risk from an authentication and behavior perspective.
  • You will leverage a wide array of data, algorithms, and predictive models to develop fraud prevention strategies that detect the tactics of criminals who attempt to exploit controls in our digital channels.
  • Strategize with front line teams to create appropriate controls to detect and manage the risk.
  • Communicate and partner with business partners to identify and improve operational processes from a fraud perspective.
  • Support the development of long-term strategic risk management policies and approaches to reduce the risk of fraud loss while maintaining a best-in-class client experience.
  • Identify and champion any process improvement opportunities across the Fraud Risk Management organization.

What you have

To ensure that we fulfill our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
  • 10 years of C# .Net programming experience or 5 years of experience with a Computer Science degree.
  • 5 years of data analytics and/or general analysis experience, ideally in a fraud risk management environment.
  • 5 years of advanced SQL knowledge. Other data analysis tools such as SAS, Python and/or R is a plus.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform is a major plus.
  • Understanding of how multiple dispersed systems and data sources can work together.
  • Demonstrated ability to process large quantities of data, understanding system limits, and summarize key findings.
  • Demonstrate strong quantitative and analytical skills, including questioning the status quo and testing results
  • Strong ability to leverage creativity that uncovers root causes and builds successful solutions beyond a textbook approach.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the financial fraud or authentication industry preferred.
  • An understanding of fraud risk decision strategy and development is a plus.
  • Experience in financial services and/or data analytics fields.
  • Demonstrate individual accountability, responsibility, and are instrumental in ensuring the team's results.
  • Demonstrate ability to think out of the box to identify gaps in operational processes.
