Director, Performance Analytics
We are seeking a data savvy, subject matter expert, and experienced people leader as Director level leader in the Performance Analytics team for Schwab Asset Management (SAM). In this role you will provide leadership and people management for a separately managed account (SMA) team located across multiple locations. This team is responsible for analyzing, presenting, and reporting on performance, attribution, and statistics of SAM's investment products for internal business partners and the public.
The Director will sit at the intersection of business and data to help build a data-driven culture to improve our value-added performance analytics. This position will be responsible for partnering with technology and product leaders to proactively improve both the quality and efficiency of the team's reporting and operational work. You will play a key role in developing, inspiring, and leading day to day and strategic work on the team.

Key Outcomes
- Managing a team of performance analysts responsible for performance reporting and analytics for Separately Managed Accounts
- Uncovering opportunities to use automation to increase the efficiency and coverage of operational reporting with an unyielding focus on timeliness and accuracy
- Seeking out opportunities to provide new, valuable reports and analysis about our products' performance and portfolio attributes to key partners
- Expert at applying GIPS (Global Investment Performance Standards) to existing reporting and new product initiatives
- Building collaborative relationships with partner organizations to establish best in class review processes, understand and address pain points, and drive value-added performance data analysis
- Being an expert in both attribution and analytical concepts related to performance data and analytics
- Working with technology and data partners to improve process efficiency, drive automation, and improve stakeholder self-service data access
- Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and business teams
- Demonstrating strategic thinking, strategic prioritization while also executing tactical initiatives to align with the broader SAM vision
- Exhibiting effective leadership by setting a positive tone for the whole team, developing the high potential talent on the team, and adding needed skills and talent when positions open on your team
- Staying current with industry and functional trends and using these insights to inform team initiatives
What you have
Required Experience:
- 15+ years of experience within the financial services industry, specifically in investment performance reporting and analysis and/or attribution
- Strong understanding of separately managed account (SMA) performance operations, analysis, business complexities
- Technical proficiencies in Tableau, SQL, and/or Python
- A passion for analyzing data and experience in developing insights from data sets
- Ability to thrive in a complex, dynamic environment, demonstrating solid judgment, planning and organization skills
- Exceptionally clear communicator and strong writer with the ability to effectively communicate with senior management and stakeholder teams.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking ability with experience managing a dynamic portfolio of initiatives and project activities.
- Bachelor's degree is required
Preferred Experience:
- Significant experience with FactSet, Bloomberg, and Morningstar strongly preferred
- Direct experience as a people leader or serving as a player/coach for the folks on the team.
- Experienced in building and managing highly effective teams, including hiring, talent development, coaching, and performance management
- Advanced degree/designation such as an MBA, CFA, or CIPM is strongly preferred
- Must be a self-starter, detailed and analytical with an intellectual curiosity on understanding how things work. Continuously strives to enhance workflows and processes.
