We are seeking a specialist Cloud Data Platform Engineer to join our growing data ecosystem focused platform engineering team. This role is ideal for a professional with progressive experience in cloud platform engineering who is ready to take on more responsibility and operate with minimal supervision. You will be integral to enabling and enhancing our cloud services, provisioning resources, and supporting a data platform on Snowflake and Google Cloud. What you have
- Cloud Service Enablement & Enhancements: Collaborate with senior engineers to enable and enhance cloud data services infrastructure, ensuring they meet business requirements and align with best practices.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Utilize IaC practices to provision and manage cloud infrastructure resources, including networking, IAM policies, and platform-specific resources, ensuring efficient and scalable cloud operations.
- Resource Provisioning: Handle the provisioning of cloud resources, such as virtual machines, storage, and databases, in accordance with project needs and operational standards.
- Platform Support: Support the maintenance and operation of the SAM Data Aggregation (SAMDA) platform, assisting in the development of new platform data pipelines and capabilities by managing assigned tasks and stories.
- Service Upgrades & Patching: Assist in the management of cloud platform upgrades for Schwab managed services, apply patches for vulnerabilities, and support the rollout of new features and services across the cloud environment.
- Disaster Recovery: Participate in disaster recovery exercises, ensuring that cloud services are resilient, recoverable, and compliant with organizational policies.
- Tenant Support: Address tickets, troubleshoot issues, and provide support for cloud service-related incidents to ensure minimal disruption and quick resolution.
- Collaboration & Documentation: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, developers, and other Cloud technology teams, to ensure seamless cloud operations. Maintain clear and detailed documentation of configurations, procedures, and best practices.
To ensure that we fulfill our promise of 'challenging the status quo,' this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of experience as a cloud data platform engineer in a data analytics ecosystem, with demonstrated progression in responsibilities and technical skills.
- 1-2 years of Schwab technology domain experience as a current or recent contractor or employ
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, ,Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, PubSub, Composer, IAM, VPC Networking, and Cloud SQL.
- Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Google Cloud Deployment Manager, with a solid understanding of cloud resource automation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with data platform architectures and an understanding of data pipelines and reporting environments.
- Basic understanding of cloud security practices, including IAM policy management and vulnerability patching.
- Analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve cloud service issues effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, supporting cross-functional initiatives and contributing to shared goals.
- Strong documentation skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
