Position Description:
We are looking to fill the position of Patch Management Engineer. This role will be a part of a team managing the GTO enterprise-wide patching lifecycle. This role is critical to ensuring the security, stability, and compliance of our IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience in patch deployment, vulnerability remediation, and automation of patch management processes across various platforms, including Windows, Linux, and third-party applications.
This position can be located at any CGI office, however a hybrid working model is acceptable.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Patch Management & Deployment:
Plan, schedule, and execute patching across all operating systems and applications to mitigate security vulnerabilities and improve system performance.

Utilize patch management tools such as WSUS, SCCM/MECM, SolarWinds Patch Manager, or equivalent.
Ensure compliance with industrys best practices and regulatory frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001).
Perform pre-patch testing and coordinate rollback plans in case of issues.
Automation & Optimization:
Develop and maintain automated patching processes to minimize downtime and improve efficiency.
Utilize PowerShell, Python, Ansible, or Rundeck to automate repetitive patching tasks.
Enhance reporting and visibility through dashboards and logs.
Vulnerability Management & Remediation:
Collaborate with Security, Infrastructure, and IT Operations teams to address vulnerabilities identified by security tools (e.g., Tenable, Qualys, Rapid7).
Perform post-patching assessments to ensure successful deployments.
Develop remediation plans for out-of-band security threats and zero-day vulnerabilities.
Reporting & Documentation:
Maintain detailed patching logs, compliance reports, and dashboards.
Generate regular reports on patching success rates, vulnerabilities mitigated, and exceptions.
Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for patch management workflows.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with system administrators, security analysts, and application teams to coordinate patch schedules with minimal disruption.
Provide technical guidance and best practices to internal IT teams.
Participate in incident response efforts related to vulnerabilities and patching failures.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Technical Skills:
Experience in patch management, system administration, or vulnerability remediation.
Expertise in Windows Server, Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS), and MacOS patching.
Hands-on experience with patching tools such as WSUS, SCCM, Ivanti, BigFix, Automox, or similar.
Strong knowledge of scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation.
Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, and Configuration Management Tools.
Understanding of endpoint management and security hardening best practices.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with security and IT operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications: CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administration, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), ITIL Foundation, CISSP (a plus).
Experience in cloud patch management (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Familiarity with ServiceNow, Remedy, or ITSM ticketing systems for patching-related incidents.

CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $51,400 - $94,200.
