Position Summary
The Risk and Insurance Analyst enables the Risk Management team to analyze risk by providing data and reports to facilitate decision making. The Risk and Insurance Analyst is responsible for maintaining exposure, loss history and claims information, the Risk Management Information System (RMIS) and other systems that improve processes around collection, storage, and reporting of Risk Management records and data. Critical to this role is the ability to serve as a detail-oriented resource by ensuring exposures, data, and insurance program information is tracked and managed effectively. The Risk and Insurance Analyst will also be involved in communicating, educating, and monitoring claims. The Risk and Insurance Analyst will also play a critical role in support college-wide disaster preparedness, emergency operations and other risk management programs.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists the Director in managing and procuring property and casualty insurance, including cyber, fine arts, unmanned aircraft, automobile, and workers' compensation.
  • Assists the Director in providing risk management consultation services, maintaining departmental programs, and other projects necessary to manage and coordinate information related to the overall risk management programs for the College.
  • Provides advice and technical assistance with cost-benefit analysis to compare program requests to budget directives and established funding sources.
  • Coordinates, designs, and implements financial reporting systems such as Risk Management Information Systems (RIMS) and acts as the primary point of expertise for RIMS, workbooks and other information systems used in coordination with tracking and monitoring risk management strategies.
  • Serves on committees/teams to provide risk management consultation and perspective as well as contributes to policy development.
  • Assists with insurance policy compliance, financial reporting and claims management rules and regulations.
  • Prepares the Campus Safety Committee's annual risk exposure and mitigation report and other reports requiring special analysis of claims and loss information and presents recommendations for changes and/or improvements.
  • Coordinates insurance information for compliance verification and audits.
  • Works closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all incoming and outgoing insurance payments, and settlements are received and processed.
  • Gathers and distributes insurance renewal information. Request information (exposure information, loss runs, loss control information, incidents, fleet data, etc.
  • Ensure the various policies, subjectivities, exposure information, reports for loss control are tracked and managed and remains current and up to date.
  • Supports the recognition of risk exposures, loss control and safety initiatives.
  • Act as main contact for certificates of insurance (COIs), auto ID cards, evidence of insurance and other insurance verification requests.
  • Requests the issuance of outgoing COIs per negotiated requirements and make decisions as to what can be provided per college guidelines.
  • Assist in the coordination of post-acquisition insurance transfer responsibilities.
  • Supports claim/ intake, for new claims and ensure the matter is reported to insurance broker and/or insurance carrier; gathers initial information for claim investigations from internal partners.
  • Tracks site visits, plan reviews, loss control reports for loss control and risk mitigation/management visits and inspections.
  • Serves as the Documentation Group Leader during a college incident or emergency. Collects, organizes and ensures all incident or emergency relevant data is retained.
  • As the Documentation Group Leader establishes a specialized data collection system, compiles and displays incident status information including logs, journals and reports to maintain and preserve records for legal, financial, analytical and historical purposes during a college emergency.
  • Attends off-site meetings and continuing education classes.
  • May supervise student work studies or student interns.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in business, risk management or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Certification as Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR), Certified School Risk Manager (CSRM), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), or Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), or some combination thereof.

Preferences:

  • Licensed Insurance P&C, Life, Accident and Health Agent/Broker
  • NIMS - ICS 100, 200, 700, 800, 300, 400
  • Experience working with Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS) and other data tracking/reporting tools.
