Position Summary
The CDL Training Manager will oversee day to day functions at the CDL training site for the ABQ CDL program including; management of CDL Examiner staff, fleet and site, conduct classroom/laboratory activities necessary to train students in entry-level truck driving, and conduct CDL Skills Exam per State of New Mexico Department of Taxation and Revenue
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversees all facets of the daily operations of the on-site ABQ CDL program, ensuring compliance with CNM Ingenuity, state, and federal laws, policies, and regulations.
- Performs quality inspections on work completed by other CDL examiners.
- Observes CDL examiners in a teaching setting to assess skills; recommends methods for improvement if needed.
- Supervision of CDL Examiner, which includes work allocation, training, promotion, enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendation for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
- Coaches, mentors, motivates and supervises team members, and influences them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
- Performs in person and audio audits on CDL Skills Exams.
- Deals with on-site issues including weather, vehicles, etc. Serves as on-site decision-maker regarding these issues.
- Monitors student performance on site and works with Examiners and CDL Senior Program Manager to adjust instruction as needed.
- Liaison with CNM Ingenuity Operations Manager for management of CDL Fleet.
- Maintains inventory of parts and supplies for ABQ CDL; orders materials as needed through CNM Ingenuity Operations Manager.
- Prepares and maintains records on all trucks and equipment activities.
- Responsible for following the requirements of the CNM Ingenuity CDL Fleet Maintenance Procedure for the maintenance of the CNM Ingenuity CDL Fleet vehicles in compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and New Mexico Department of Transportation.
- Provides feedback to CDL Program Manager in the creation, development and updating of ABQ CDL curriculum.
- Organizes instructional material and lab assignments to meet specific measurable objectives.
- Develops best practices and tools for program execution and management.
- • Maintains accurate student records, manage inventory, and maintain security of lab and tools.
- Maintains supervisory responsibility for students during the hours they are assigned.
- Provides for effective evaluation and assessment of the learning experience of each student.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Five (5) years work experience in the industry of which two (2) years' include experience managing staff and (two) 2 years' teaching or training experience
- State of New Mexico CDL Examiner Certification or willingness to pass Examiner Certification within first six (6) months
- Valid unrestricted CDL Class A License and a current DOT Physical Card
- This position requires a valid unrestricted Driver's License
