Position Summary
The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Education & Learning at Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) serves as a strategic partner to the Vice President of Education and Learning (VPEL), assisting in the leadership, development, and continuous improvement of academic programs and services as well as building alignments with workforce programs. The AVP will play a key role in driving the College's growth through strategic initiatives that enhance academic excellence, learner success, transfer, and workforce development while advancing CNM's mission and strategic goals. The AVP will provide operational leadership across academic schools and units, ensuring alignment with the College's vision, values, long-term priorities, and strategic plan. Further, the AVP will collaborate deeply across organizations - Enrollment Management Student Success (EMSS), Workforce & Community Success (WCS), and CNM Ingenuity (CNMI).

Duties & Responsibilities
- STRATEGIC PRIORITIES FOR THIS POSITION
- This position will be wholly responsible for the following strategic priorities, along with other duties associated with this role:
- Transfer office
- Lead the development and implementation of the College's new Transfer Office and provide the leadership and vision for academic transfer pathway initiatives, dual enrollment, and CTE course transfers
- Facilitate learner success and persistence by researching and suggesting transfer and advising methodologies that enhance learner outcomes in chosen pathways. In addition, work with EMSS to design transfer training for advisors
- Supervise staff and lead in accordance with CNM's values and vision to build and support transfer, CPL, processes, standards, partnerships, and offerings to enhance learner success
- Work with the Office of Data Strategy to ensure Transfer dashboards yield timely and meaningful data that can inform future directions of the transfer office
- Oversee the organization of, and track results of, transfer events and transfer partnerships
- Credit for Prior Learning (CPL)
- Oversee the overall Credit for Prior Learning office and strategy
- Policy Development and Compliance
- Oversee CPL messaging and marketing building stronger awareness and widespread faculty support
- Build strong advising structures for CPL in collaboration with EMSS
- Oversee the CPL data analysis and reporting structures
- Build and oversee the process of Competency-mapping and competency awards
- Oversee the expansion of broad portfolio assessment options
- Work with CNM Ingenuity to build stronger pathways from non-credit to credit through CPL
- Employer academic partnerships
- Track all industry advisory committees by school and area of study
- Collaborate with WCS to build partnerships with employers for work-based learning
- Explore and implement work-placed learning with employers to offer classes at employer locations
- Ensure that CTE curricula are aligned with, and updated, according to industry standards
- Use CIPR metrics and data to ensure that schools are fulfilling the employer and industry needs in the region
- AIign Academic Processes and track data
- Align the processes of the Collegewide Curriculum Committee (CCC), the catalog cycle, and the Collewide Integrated Program Review (CIPR)
- Collaborate with the CIPR team to examine how CIPR can be used to advance Academic Affairs priorities
- Ensure that Academic Affairs metrics and CIPR metrics are aligned
- Collaborate with the Office for Data Strategy (ODS) to track and bring meaningful, actionable data to faculty
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The following duties and responsibilities are representative of the role. Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
- Collaborate with the VPEL to implement and oversee academic programs, strategic initiatives, Academic Affairs AI strategy, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Serve as the main academic liaison with CNM Ingenuity. This will include attending the weekly Ingenuity meetings at the Workforce Training Center.
- Provide leadership for academic planning, aligning curriculum processes such as the Collegewide Integrated Program Review (CIPR), Collegewide Curriculum Committee (CCC), program evaluation, and accreditation processes and more.
- Support cross-divisional teams in developing innovative education models that enhance learner success as well as workforce-aligned programming.
- Support and track the academic schools/divisions, including hiring, training, performance management, and professional development.
- Track the development of annual and long-term academic plans, project compensation, resource allocation, and strategic enrollment management.
- Work with the Physical Plant Department (PPD) and the VPEL in supporting the tracking of projects where the VPEL is the executive sponsor.
- Collaborate with faculty, deans, and other stakeholders to identify emerging educational trends, ensure best practices, and maintain academic standards.
- Co-lead, with the VPEL, initiatives to improve data-informed decision-making, including data collection, analysis, and reporting for program performance, learner outcomes, and removing barriers.
- Foster cross-divisional collaboration with EMSS, WCS, CNMI, and promote teamwork across organizations to enhance coordination, efficiency, and shared goals.
- Work with the union and faculty senate, fostering support for academic initiatives from these important partners.
- Support the Vice President's strategic vision for academic growth and revitalization for all CNM campus locations, as well as regional strategies.
- As needed or directed, represent CNM, the VPEL and/or the Academic Affairs area at internal and external meetings, including Governing Board presentations, industry forums, and community engagement events.
- Reimagine the Transfer office, co-develop with the VPEL a vision and direction for transfer pathways, dual enrollment, workforce alignment, and credit for prior learning (CPL) while ensuring alignment with institutional goals and the college's current strategic plan. In this role the AVP will track and oversee all aspects of transfer including the creation, evaluation, and enhancement of transfer agreements, articulation pathways, competency-mapping, and CPL processes.
- Work with the office of Data Strategy to track pre- and post-completion learner outcomes, inform policy decisions, and ensure compliance with local, state, and national transfer and CPL standards. As well, support the P-20 office to identify and build career pathways for dual credit learners.
Minimum Qualifcations:
Education:
- A doctorate degree, preferably in education, higher education, or a related field.
OR
- A master's degree may be considered with extensive experience.
Experience:
- At least five years of progressively responsible supervisory and management experience in broad areas of academic/CTE leadership, preferably in a community college setting.
- At least five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in higher education administration, including, but not limited to, academic planning, curriculum development, work-based learning, and learner success initiatives.
- Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, academic innovation, and stakeholder engagement.
