About The Role:


We are looking for a Senior Real Estate Accountant for CBRE's Property Management team based in Chicago, IL. Contributors in this role are responsible for the accounting activities associated with maintaining ledger accounts and for developing financial statements and reports, as well as providing functional advice or training to less experienced accountants.


What You'll Do:



  • Review and process invoices and enter data into the accounting databases.
  • Research and resolve accounts receivable issues.
  • Analyze records of financial transactions to determine accuracy and completeness.
  • Close month-end accounting books. Reconcile balance sheet and profit and loss statement.
  • Prepare income statements, balance sheets, and other accounting statements or financial reports.
  • Analyze accounting variances and prepare variance explanation reports.
  • Prepare and review projections to show effects of proposed changes on income and financial condition.
  • Maintain, record, and reconcile billings and accounts receivables for medium to large accounts.
  • Examine finance statements and documents for conformance with accounting requirements and principles.
  • Create month-end accounting entries and reconcile discrepancies,
  • Record complex business transactions in the general ledger.
  • Provide informal assistance such as technical mentorship or training to colleagues.

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 4+ years professional accounting experience required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to provide efficient, timely, and reliable service to customers.
  • Ability to effectively present information.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and summarize data and prepare clear, concise financial reports.
  • Should have ability to convey complex financial issues to laypersons.
  • Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations is required.
  • Advanced understanding of accounting and bookkeeping concepts is required.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite applications. Ability to design and produce various ad-hoc reports. Advanced knowledge of computer applications related to real estate accounting or financial management systems.
