About The Role:
As a CBRE Senior Debt Advisory and Structured Finance Underwriting Analyst on the CBRE National Senior Housing team, you'll have the opportunity to be involved at every stage of a large or high-profile real estate transaction.
What You'll Do:
- Assist the transaction lead (VP/SVP) in managing a GSE (Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac) financing process from the quote stage to closing, including the preparation and submission of GSE financing requests, ordering and coordination of third-party reports and site visits, preparation of back-end models and credit narratives, and DD management for closing.
- Collaborate with the broader team, clients, loan closers, legal counsel, and various third-party groups to move loan requests through the approval and closing process.
- Be responsible for analyzing and underwriting GSE eligible transactions with varying degrees of complexity loan structures and borrower organization structure.
- Review and synthesize, via written analysis and verbal communication, the creditworthiness of various Borrowers, Operators, Guarantors, and other deal participants (via the review of financial statements, statements of real estate owned, and organizational charts, among other borrower DD).
- Evaluate property operations and performance trends in terms of occupancy, net income, and debt service coverage.
- Review and analyze all applicable third-party reports and ensure compliance with appropriate GSE requirements.
- Perform site inspection due diligence to evaluate market competitiveness of the proposed collateral and to determine economic feasibility of the projected income stream.
- Must be able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Help to train or mentor junior staff, particularly within the context of agency transactions.
- Perform other financial tasks or screening tasks, as needed, to assist the team.
- Assist with and underwrite non-GSE eligible transactions when needed.

What You'll Need:

- Bachelor's Degree with 2-7 years of relevant GSE underwriting experience.
- Highly advanced Excel skills and highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Adobe Reader, PowerPoint, and Internet search engines
- Detailed current knowledge of GSE underwriting practices; must have a solid understanding of credit risk analysis and mitigation related to leverage, cash flow, rent rolls, third party reports, loan structure, borrower creditworthiness, management/operator experience, market analysis and asset quality
- Experience in Multifamily is a requirement, with experience in Senior Housing even more preferable
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and move quickly through assignments while setting and/or meeting realistic deadlines
- Knowledge and ability to interpret Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guidelines and to underwrite multiple transaction types and structures, including fixed, floating, supplemental, multiple-asset portfolios, credit facilities, etc.
- Strong interest in real estate, lending, and financial analysis
