About the role

CBRE is looking for a Data Center Construction Project Manager! This person will be joining a large technology client and responsible for leading program initiatives as part of the DCS Programs Team to improve the way data centers are planned and implemented. They will support and engage with a wide range of teams in the development and implementation of the initiatives. The Project Manager will represent the views of the DCS construction execution team(s) either directly or indirectly.

What you'll do

  • Pre-quality and ensure requests for DCS program support meet minimum requirements for overall initiative objectives, engagement level requirements, resources expertise requirements and expected outputs/results of the initiative.
  • Engage with experts and collaborators to initiate new programs, including developing program documentation or charter.
  • Assimilate and track all project initiative requests for review and approval with the client leadership advisory board. Prepare agenda and briefings for these meetings and function
  • Present approved program project engagement list to DCS leadership and management teams for the assignment of teams and individuals to participate
  • Draft program reporting for client management reviews, including providing health of program progress, performance, key decisions, key commitments made, key risks, opportunities and impacts to the site teams to implement the work.
  • Identify both overlapping and conflicting initiatives and priorities to leadership for transparency and resolution.
  • Ensure clean and clear closeout including recording of the goals, objectives, implementation strategy, impacts to site teams and risks.
  • Develop communication and roll out strategy to both management and execution teams including training, direct engagement and general awareness notifications.
  • Lead and complete the DCS program process administration across the portfolio. Focus is on the ability to lead and monitor multiple projects at one time.
  • Lead cross functional teams and prioritize multiple simultaneous programs with contending priorities.
  • Build and maintain key partner and technical expert relationships
  • Identify process and communications gaps, while developing and driving solutions to implement data center programs.
  • Work with the technical guides and key partners to continually improve communications across the teams.
  • Drive improvement and expansion of the program process reach through stakeholder feedback and/or based on measurement of important metrics.
  • Balance initiative program requirements and impacts against common project constraints of schedule, resources, complexities, process, costs and funding.
  • Provide program project execution guidance throughout end-to-end project lifecycle with ability to assess potential workarounds to and remove constraints.
  • Program focus areas include at a minimum the following related to construction: contracts, funding, schedules, costs, hold points, risks, contractor scoping, design/engineering items, estimating, quality, market constraints, software, process tools, and new product introduction.
  • Build presentations, dashboards, project management trackers, reports, training materials, and communication materials.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 5-8 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered. LEED AP, PMP, and/or CCM designation(s) preferred.
  • Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
  • Willingness to take a new perspective on existing solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products or Google Suite products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mentality.
  • Sophisticated math skills. Ability to calculate mildly complex figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.
