About the role

Working under limited supervision, apply advanced building maintenance skills to perform high level preventive maintenance and corrective repair of HVAC roof top units (RTU's) and refrigeration equipment, such as walk in/reach in coolers and freezers, building systems and equipment, vehicles and grounds within a reasonable distance. Work directly with management. Use several trade skills beyond HVAC and refrigeration skills such as brazing, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating and cooling.

  • There are NO on-call or weekend requirements for this role.

What you'll do

  • Follow all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Review assigned work orders. Estimate time and materials needed to complete repair. Order materials and supplies to finish the tasks. Handles work orders and tracks completion in CMMS.
  • Responsible for installation and modification of building equipment systems.
  • Inspect building systems including fire alarms, HVAC/R, and plumbing to ensure operation of equipment is within design capabilities and environmental conditions prescribed by client.
  • Occasionally oversee and inspect work performed by outside contractors.
  • Maintain the buildings lighting system.
  • Respond quickly to emergency situations, summoning assistance as needed. May serve as a mentor to other technicians.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

What you'll need

To perform this job successfully, an individual must perform each essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of 4 years of refrigeration experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • EPA 608 / CFC Certification is required.
  • Certifications/licenses as may be required by local jurisdictions.
  • Possess the skills to functionally operate a "full size" van/truck and maintain a valid driver's license with a good driving record. (Periodically checked)
  • Excellent communications skills. Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook.
  • Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Make Decisions with general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and goals. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
  • Responsible for personal safety and the safety of those who are affected by your work.
